Only shoots once!
Hi, I decided to take it upon myself a year ago to start my first potato cannon. I have now completed it with various add-ons and features including three spark gaps, a bolt action breech-loading mechanism and a PC fan to circulate the air within the combustion chamber. While The fan was blown out o...

Spark rail issue
Ok, I've built a spark rail for my first combustion cannon but it seems when i try to test the whole rail together it doesn't work. I have 3 spark gaps on it. I'm using a wooden dowel with 3 small PVC rings attached to it. (Each ring has a spark gap) I'm using screws for the prongs and some small wi...

Screws for Additonal Support
Now I've seen some combustion cannons that, Including the basic PVC primer/cement, use small 2 cm (about an inch) wood screws every couple of cm around the piping. Its like a ring around the pipe of screws. They are drilled through the couplers into the piping underneath. My question is would that i...

for my size of gun, a section of 2" PVC pipe would be good with my small .5" barrel? (all the numbers are referring to diameter btw) Nvm the 2" PVC, I have a new 80mm PC fan which i will trim to fit some (don't know how big yet) PVC pipe. Ill bring the fan with me while I shop so I can see how it wo...

Thanks, and I'm just going to go with the simple 2 90 degree turns. I have an idea for my breech loading mechanism. I'll make a pic of it and post it. Its a prettier version of the unscrewing barrel type breech. Im making this gun with asthetics in mind greatly, It won't be as unsightly (no offense)...

Travel of energy through gun
I was wondering if, for asthetic reasons, instead of doing a simple 2 90 degree coupler over under, I routed the expanding gasses through a longer route. It would take the energy from the combustion longer to get to the barrel and projectile but not by much. Typical over under: ___ _________________...

Well I am new to spudguns and such and have decided to build my first. I have perused the cannons sections and am collecting ideas I plan to build a rifle type one, combustion, not massive (size of a real rifle, but bulkier) and just to fire small ammunition (about the size of marbles). I grasp the ...
