From my understanding it's all because of the machining, which the Striker requires none of.

I'm a little confused, I have never heard if a grill igniter with 3 electrodes. The configuration for a 3 spark setup would be (+) -- x -- x -- x -- (-), with x being the spark gaps. Basically make sure to connect them in series, and not in parallel.

Okay, to clear up the "how", here is what I was thinking. Insert a metal rod into the pipe. The rod (or pipe, whatever) should be nearly equal to the inside diameter as the PVC. It should also leave a little bit of PVC overhang on both sides. Wires connect to the rod and a current is passed through...

Just curious why do you need an outside - inside configuration? To use as a stopper for muzzle loading?

"batteries not included" I'd get rechargeables or try to find the equivelent output as 8aaa's in a smaller configuration.
12 volts......I would do one 9v and two AAA's.

Very, very good point. The fittings are where it gets real expensive.

Darker fittings and lighter pipe will also look better.

Haha well chenslee, I'm more than willing to pay the price of a BL-520, but ONLY if that means I get to build it. Thank you :) Are there any cheaper alternatives to aluminum? I know steel is, but that would make this one heavy motherfucker. I will spend $1000 if I have to, but having $500 to spare w...

I see. Perhaps coaxial a coaxial configuration is inefficient, but after seeing the BL-520 I'm still impressed. Coax seems very convenient to me, and it appears that an over-under design would require some welding (rather than fittings) for it to look decent (like the Cobra Venom). I don't know my m...

Aluminum combustion plans

I am starting plans on an aluminum coaxial combustion cannon. It is designed similar to Ultimate Spud Gun's BL series spud cannons. Here's the plans first: http://i29.tinypic.com/34477nq.png If you can't tell in the pic, the part of the wire that fits into the igniter is epoxied into place. Also on ...

Yes and judging how this is in a combustion cannon board, there will be fire  you better protect your styrofoam somehow.

Well that would still be a spray and pray, but yeah those would all be big improvements. Is that PVC pressure rated? I would also recommend multiple spark gaps.

But nice tater cannon

Sorry for the double post but I have another question.

How well would Gorilla Glue work for metal fittings? I have read around and it's said to adhere stronger than epoxy, however the glue itself is weaker. I was thinking of using it and then topping it off with epoxy, surrounding the gorilla glue.
