Took some advice and ditched the second QEV, now I suppose I'll have to think of a new name :| Performance seems comparable (don't really know, haven't done any quantitative tests) although the speed at wich the trigger (DCV) is operated now has a relatively drastic effect on the power of the shot, ...

I've seen that air cylinder setup work before. The only air cylinder I have right now is double acting (no spring return). I was thinking one possibility might be to connect a small air reservoir to one side to work like an air spring. Or I could just make it spring return by attaching a spring to t...

CQEV Cannon
Here's a cannon I've been tinkering with for a while. It uses not one, but two QEVs, so I've dubbed it the CQEV (Cascading QEV) cannon. It's probably not the most efficient use of two QEVs but I've been accumulating parts for a while now and had them lying around. Here the specs Main Valve: 3/4" Del...

How well do the CO2 cartridges fly? tumble? I've seen others use them before, I think I might follow suit with my next build. They're uniform, destructive, disposable, and cheap (or free if you look hard enough). Seems almost too good to be true so me thinks there must be a catch; maybe a little lac...

I can still see the video. Awesome little project, I wish I knew enough or had the time to learn enough about electronics to do something like this. If it were me though I would have done something like suggested above; why not use the button on the nunchuck to fire the cannon? It would give it a fe...

I'm pretty sure you need two regulators to get HPA low enough for PVC... JSR uses a standard paintball reg that reggs down to 450 psi... from that point you can either reg down to 125 or follow JSR's advice and use a QEV + metal chamber Just for a little clearing up, it's entirely possible to reg 4...

Right on, the current design includes a ~6mm gap between the fittings and the side walls of the enclosure. This will allow epoxy to pretty much encase the fittings, except for the front and back. Would you consider this sufficient without CF? It's always an option though. Hell, for 10 bucks, I might...

Carbon fiber cloth and thread are fairly available to hobbyists at less than outrageous prices. Check out ebay. It may end up costing a bit, but if it actually gives a considerable increase in strength it could produce a cannon with excellent strength/weight ratio. I think it would be worth it. Not ...

So here's the plan as of now. I've modified the elbow and the tee so they have a tight fit. After thinking about it, I've decided not to use a temporary mold to cast the epoxy in, rather construct an encasing out of pvc and simply fill it with epoxy and seal it. Here's a little sketchup I did to giv...

Slauma if you look closely at Superna, I did screw up on the allignment of the 45* elbows resulting in the chamber and barrel not being parallel, but it is very subtle when the barrel is on. Mine wasn't too bad either. Actually when I put hose clamps around the barrel and chamber for the barrel sup...

Have a look at this project . Precisely the man I'm looking for apparently. :D Very helpful, thank you. I'm gonna go ahead and start modifying the fittings to try this I think. Did you use this stuff you linked to on ebay on that cannon? Do they make special high pressure epoxies? The only thing I'...

That's who it was I had seen jor2daje, thanks for the link. Without doing the epoxy, get a street elbow then use 45 degree elbows to make the chamber higher like I did on Superna. This is actually the last upgrade I made to my most recent gun. I personally just don't like it as much this way, it sti...
