Well, I'm not quite sure how i am going to rebuild this one. http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i338/j-duggie/photo.jpg It broke once before at the threaded female piece from over-tightening. You can see where I added a coupler and rebuilt the top part. but now if i try to do that again, there will...

Bumper was a tennis ball and the piston travel was just under an inch.
Any ideas on how I can fix it? Is there any pipe that fits perfectly around a 2" coupler?

Oh and btw saefroch, my friend said that from inside my house about 30 feet away, he had to strain to hear my cannon fire at 80 psi.

@saefroch My backyards not even 40 feet haha, so no i havent tested the sound yet, but i'll make sure i let you know when i do. Heres a picture of my current piston, it has a 1/4" rubber bumper. http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i338/j-duggie/PhotoApr0331755PM.jpg Do you have any suggestions for a...

It's all pressure rated, one of the main reasons I havent taken it past 40 psi is the noise. And the other reason is that ive been using a hand pump, since my compressor is trapped in the middle of my garage which is filled with boxes from moving. As for why I didn't use sdr 21, I couldn't find it a...

Sleeving the 2' was definitely the most laborious part. i made a tourniquet to squeeze it in while i bashed it with a hammer. Took me like an hour and a half to get it in all the way. If your looking to sleeve a 2" i would recommend using some kind of grease or lube.

My Golf Ball Cannon.

This is not my first gun, but it is the first one i am willing to take the time to post on Spudfiles :o . It has a 2" serviceable piston valve and a 1" sprinkler valve as the pilot. (the pilot is maybe just a bit overkill haha) The golf ball barrel is made from sleeved 2" pipes. Being that i live in...

Rifled Barrel???

Okay, so I was thinking about how i could rifle a small bore pvc pipe. My first thought was to pull a drill bit through the barrel, but i immediately dismissed that idea due to rate of rotation of most drill bits; but recently i came across this drill bit, which seems perfect. From what i can tell f...

what if you had a projectile with a groove cut into it so that it could be latched into place in the barrel, up against a o-ring (similar to how a quick connect works). then when the projectile is unlatched, it fires. this would make it much easier to get a perfect seal, right?

My bottle looks to be exactly the same as the one used in the "snipalux" which was pumped up to 220 psi, so if i wrap mine in fiberglass, or even filament tape (180lb tensile str/in) I should be fine getting away with 160 psi, right? I'll pump it up from a distance the first few times before getting...

Thanks for your input! I found a bottle at my house that has perfect 3/4" threads. I think I'll put a couple of layers of fiberglass around it (especially the flat bottom), and only take it up to 160 psi or so.

Aluminum water bottle air tank

I want to use an aluminum water bottle as an air chamber, but i dont know what kind of pressures one can handle. They're pretty cheap and look fairly strong. Do you think one could safely handle 250 psi? I'd test it, but i don't have the right equipment. If someone else were to test it, use a colema...
