Cold-Fire Tracer Rounds (DIY)
Last night as part of the celebratory events I was launching some spuds. I found an ancient Glowstick in a drawer and decided to try out an idea that popped into my head: tracer rounds. As always I sized my spuds using a piece of pipe sam...

Alternative Ammo: Cupcakes
Yep. I am always on the look out for anything that fits the bore of my 2" co-axial cannon. Last night when I ran out of taters I spied a tray of stale cupcakes that were about to get dumpstered. Much to my amusement they fit the cannon perfectly and judging by the sound (it was 1 AM) they travel hel...

Has anyone ever used a battery operated BBQ lighter? I have always wanted one. I found one for $15 shipped on eBay and it works great. Uses a triple A battery. I hacked it up and modified it to my needs...but even unmodified it worked very well...makes a strong spark about an inch gap. I agree the ...

Thanks for that tip. I agree a tripod or a someone on the cam would be a great improvement. I'm trying to come up with a target that will maximize the effect of a tangerine exploding. Something messy. Can you get any useful data from hang time on a vertical shot? Yesterday we launched one right thro...

You know what is a right PITA? Trying to zero in a sight that is at a 45 degree orientation. I think I need to make a mount that is level to the earth just to simplify that task. I can get it centered, but then it's high or low. Adjusting elevation changes windage (being that the cross hairs so to s...

Gotcha. Metering is on the agenda. Thanks for the comments :) Another super hectic day. No school. 2 Kids full of energy. Sinus Cold. Many chores. Oh yeah. But from about 7:30 to 9:30 tonight I managed to tinker a bit. The usual disclaimer that this is not pretty...but it does work. http://img442.im...

Link Master. Master of the Hyperlink. I bow before your stash of bookmarks :D I know it makes absolutely no sense to make this stuff. But it keeps me off the streets. Once I get my play fund built up I'll be purchasing a few bits of Cannon Jewelry for my beast. I'm a sucker for machined aluminum. Th...

A little update. I've shot all manner of things out of the cannon. Even potatoes. It's been reliable. And it has a satisfying amount of recoil  My favorite so far is an improvised cardboard shot shell full of mini marshmallows straight up. But busting jugs is fun too. Yes please. I've got wood and fiberglass on hand but I need to snag a few large hose clamps. Until I know it's going to work I'll need to move it around. I was thinking about trying to cut those Bevels on the picatinny with my table saw using some Polycarbonate, then make stand offs of wood with alu...

Now that's some engineering I can relate too:D I'm going to try elevating the sights away from the cannon a bit to calm my nerves and see what kind of accuracy I can get using something like what you came up with. The cannon is pretty hefty so I tend to put it on my shoulder like a rocket launcher. ...

All the time. :x One thing that was a little unnerving for me is per...
