Yeah I kicked myself for not taking a picture of the rifling while the barrel was off, but it's a pain to keep pulling the gun apart because I have to sight the scope in again and again. If I do have to pull the barrel off at some point I'll make sure to take pics. I agree that a steel rifled barrel...

Lockednloaded - Thanks for the explanation. CollegeGuy - My mate has pinched the rifling tool but I'll try and describe it. Basically it's made from a piece of tool steel, which is extremely hard steel used to make cutting edges for metal lathes. We used a piece this size http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/...

Here's a (very!) rough concept drawing, the bottle becomes the stock attached to the slide valve and the firing chamber is made much smaller. JSR I've drawn on your picture, is this right? What effect does the trigger have? Does it fill the firing chamber? If so how does it pilot? I'm assuming I st...

Crna Legija - Thanks for the diagram. Looks a bit above my pay grade. I'll look into it for the next one. Thanks again. Zach12 - Thanks. The scope rail is 10mmx3mm alum, the frame/stock is 20mmx3mm alum, 10mm might be too flimsy for the frame. Gun Freak - Thanks! Lockednloaded - Thank you. Yes it ha...

Crna Legija - Thanks for the link, I'll check that out and keep it in mind for my next attempt. JSR - Sorry, I have a bad habit of assuming everyone on the internet is in the USA unless specifically stated otherwise :) As for the slide valve, I've never used one but my mate just received one he orde...

Wow that was quick. Thanks for the suggestions, JSR. Shouldn't you be in bed though??? I have not drilled holes in the end of the barrel, that's a good idea, should have done that before I rifled it. Just ordered a couple of those 600psi gauges, thanks for the link, they'll come in handy. Ahh I was ...

.25 Air rifle, Breech loaded, rifled barrel
Hi all, As a carry on from our previous attempt http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/first-rifle-1-4-bb-simple-design-w-shock-pump-t22714.html we decided to build another rifle, hopefully improved. The priorities of this gun were accuracy over distance first, then power. It may help a few other aussie re...

I bought the valve from a local truck parts dealer. This is the valve: http://www.haldex.com/en-GB/Europe/Applications-Products/Product-categories/Brake--suspension-systems/Product-Info/AIR-BRAKE/32-Way-Valve/N13440DN If you live in Australia I'd imagine you could contact someone like this http://ww...

Here's a few pics as requested of the other rifle I mentioned. Same principles only with a spring loaded trigger held by a sear, and a soda bottle air chamber. As you'd guess, the spring loaded trigger does improve the power. Thanks again for the comments/suggestions. edit: The trigger guard was mea...

Thanks shiny455. Look forward to checking out your design mate. Edit by Moderator (MrCrowley): Double post. To Moderator: My apologies, will not happen again. Edit by Moderator (MrCrowley): Double post (again). Please edit your previous post, thanks. To Crna Legija - Thanks, I did think about boxing...

First Rifle (1/4" BB) - Simple design w/shock pump
Hi, This is my first post, sorry for any mistakes. My work mate and I built a couple of variations of this gun last year for [ COMMENT REMOVED BY BTB ]in and around the shed where we work. There's nothing remarkable about this gun, it's simple to make, but I haven't seen any on this site that use th...
