JSR- what sort of battery can you use to heat that wire- what sort of voltage is required? This may have to lead to another prototype I'd be more worried about the current it draws. The nichrome wire I have is 13Ω/m so for a 10cm length at 9v it would be attempting to draw ~6.9A. Don't expect the b...

Not to be rude, but I'm kinda surprised that you don't seem to know much about BB guns considering you have built air cannons before. There are quite a few similarities and there is a lot of info in the different threads here. I would just build the cloud or vortex as already mentioned, they chew th...

Just curious...why does your ~12-13 year old friend own a lathe? It's probably his dads. Just like I'm using 'my' iPad now. Haha. Anyway, isn't 'your' stuff legally your parents until your 16 or whatever? I'd get the xbox, and see if you can use a lathe at some place. You don't want to spend that m...

Like I said, I do but I don't. I kind of want an xbox, but at the same time I want a lathe. Its 50/50 for me, because I can either get really good at video games which will lead no where but alot of online glory, or get really good at machining which will lead to possibly a job and glory of being a...

I would not try to ship something that large transcontinental. Have you checked Ebay/Craigslist/classified ads? From the states to New Zealand 2 30kg subwoofers was going to cost me several hundred US dollars in shipping. I flagged that for local second hand ones. You'd spend more on shipping the l...

I would argue about my dislike for the no having 2 posts in a row or bringing up a thread that is a little bit old rules, but I probably wouldn't get very far with it. Editing doesn't bring a thread to the top does it? So if I have an update on a project then how do I let people know? Double postin...

In some forums, not searching is a permabannable offence. And those forums aren't "that" uptight. that is just silly though. You cannot prove that you have searched and found nothing, or that you haven't searched at all. You cannot always find specific enough information to answer a particular ques...

Do you realize that I was only making an example? Enough flaming, its just a point. I know I can't propel a airsoft bb 500m, and it would need a huge cannon to do it, plus an amount of money that I don't have. But I am still going to try this, its not going to be some 3inch chamber to a 1/4" barrel...

DYI, I would develop some sort of flash hider/silencer to quiet and reduce the visibility of it, and of course be covered in foliage. In my example, roughly ten megajoules of energy would be dissipated into the first few metres of air in front of the muzzle, heating it to temperatures high enough t...

quick question on barrels, for metal bbs and airsoft. metal bbs are .177 of an inch, closest normal american unit is about 6/32 which is .1875, is that close enough? i know a tight bore airsoft barrel is like .03 of a mm bigger then the bb which is like .00012 of an inch, seems like a big gap to me...
