Yeah okay, I just picked up a tube of 100% silicone sealant used for baths/sinks for like 50 cents =D (it was on clearance). I'm gonna try it today, I'll post how it goes.

Oooh okay, like the stuff you use to seal windows or something? Thanks a lot, I'll go by and pick some up sometime! In the meantime I'll just use the quick-release =\.

The glue ripped off a couple of times so I just nailed it down (the nail is outside of the barrel port though, so there is no need to seal it). Once I put vasoline all over it, it doesnt really stick to the barrel anymore though. noname, are you talking about a silicone glue, or a silicone lubricant...

mopherman, I tried putting a coupler on it, but it comes out too far in front of he chamber port. Like, before the coupler is on, it's halfway above the chamber port. Afterwards, it's in front of the hole, so there's less room for the air to get in. I was thinking this would limit flow, would it? Th...

Help! Piston Sealing Problem

Hi everyone! I finally got my barrel sealing tee valve working, but there's a problem! It's a 2" valve with 1" ports, and a 1" ball valve for an exhaust. I'm using some converters attached to the 1" ball valve to connect a quick-release hose to fill it up. Then to fire it, I just remove the quick-re...

Hrm okay, as long as it's not the "other kind' of pipe that isn't rated. I'm not going to be pushing the pressure too high.

Thanks =).

Is this fitting pressure rated?

Hi I just bought some new parts to upgrade my spud gun recently, but I'm not so sure whether this 3" endcap is safe or not. I thought it looked a little different from the other end-caps I had, but wasn't sure whether it was like that because it was bigger. On the edge it says SCH40 PVC-1 IPS [NSF-P...

I don't think there is a piston. It's just a sprinkler valve used as the main valve to the barrel.

Instead of a spring check valve, you could always just make a hole and cover it with a rubber flap. When air tries to escape through the hole, it pushes the flap against the piston and seals the hole.

Hey Demon, I think a problem in your designs is that during the firing stage, the piston is pushed back and it allows ammo to fall back into the barrel. Also air can escape through the ammo clip. Unless you want the gun to be fully auto.

I think BT1969's idea is the simplest for single shots.

Yeah, I got that much =p. I think those test-plugs should work, I mean they're made for sealing off a pipe under pressure. Even though they're for temporary testing, the barrel isn't going to be under that much pressure anyways.

I don't have much experience with sealing off parts of a gun, but maybe this can work?

I don't think you're supposed to melt rubber for a diaphragm valve =p, it's just a piece of rubber. I'm not sure what material people use, I heard something about using a cutout of a tupperware container, or a piece of neoprene rubber. Look at this picture: http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/download.p...

Did you try taking the nozzle off the blowgun? I heard that helps. You could also use a diaphragm valve to empty the pilot chamber, I heard they open faster than piston valves and are easier to make.

Check the pneumatic showcase section, there are lots of coaxial examples. Here's a video that shows how to make a piston valve for an over-under cannon, it's the same concept as a piston valve for a coaxial.
