Ah, you see, I've already been to France and Germany, and my trips already quite long and expensive anyway.

If I could add one of the two, it would be a hard decision. My French is my best second language, but I've been to France many times more than I have Germany.

@ wannabie: Don't worry, I have solutions to my spudding dilemmas. You know why there is always such panic about PVC shards in skin? They don't show up on X-ray... No, I'm not quite daft enough to try taking that risk, but I'm taking a small coil gun with me, which can be dissassembled for transit t...

No, Sunday is my last full day, but I've got loads of organising and packing to do, which comes before spudfiles I'm afraid. It's still friday here now. About 11.30 AM

It might work if it's not simple to just open up a new window, find Wikipedia on my favourites, then just type in "Drop bears". If you start talking about something I don't know about, I'm going to look it up.

Well were abouts are you going to visit in Aus?There are a few Aussie spuders down here that we could meet up with.Don't know if you are going to reply but it's worth try. Ah... New South Wales. Although how much it is like Old Wales, I don't know. I'll tell you some time. @Marco: Oddly enough, tha...

Damn, I wasn't sure about the other topic, but now, with this evidence in front of me, I'm impressed. If I had time on my hands, I'd try going through a 2p coin, but time is not friendly at the moment with everything coming up. Now someone just needs to add these results to the overall Mythspudding ...

I guess this is goodbye.

Sunday will be my last full day in the UK. The day after, I'm off on a tour of the world on the gap year I mentioned a couple of weeks back. And this post probably also marks my last regular visit to spudfiles for a while, as I have a collosal amount of packing to do, and several other last minute t...

Not sure exactly whether that's a good thing, but it sounds impressive nonetheless.

@DYI: If he gets his act together, he can use slightly over 300 psi.

@Fnord: Take note of that Crab battle advice - it could be crucial to your survival.

@JSR: I still prefer the idea of a a shotgun to an AMR. I suppose it varies, but take a look at Ragnarok's HEAL V1.1 . If I had to compare that to any one kind of firearm in appearance, I'd choose a shotgun of some sort, partly because the chamber looks almost as if it could be an underbarrel magazi...

I know what it sounds like on a pneumatic, but I've never been stupid enough to recreate the same causes for a combustion.

I'd be more interested in a high velocity 3/4" launcher, anti-material rifle style, with a small chamber at high pressure. Sounds great - as long as you don't call it the anti-materiel rifle. There are far too many spudguns that get called that. I quite like to think of launchers in that sort of ca...

I don't find that myself. My experience is that if they're wadded, they'll hold together pretty well at any speed I can get them to.

Re: interesting science question

Actuall, the question is "How would you rust proof a large sea-bearing ship? cheaply " Well, equally, by that definition, the rust proofing on a wooden boat is free. It doesn't specify that the boat has to be cheap. And equally, most methods of rust proofing either take a lot of labour, or expensiv...

Also, it was after all a potato, not exactly the cream of high velocity projectiles in terms of barrel friction, streamlining and ballistic coefficient... The potato may not be the ultimate projectile, but they can still go pretty fast, at least for the first few metres. But there's quite enough pe...

Liking the Halo soundtrack. I prefer a valve that doesn't need reassembling after each shot, and is a little more predictable, but that's still some good shootin'.
