Availability would be why in my case. I can go to any hardware store and by a 1" Sprinkler Valve whereas the only practical QEV I can find would need to be shipped from the UK.

I don’t know how much abuse the Schrader valve can take, maybe you should try and make a valve which can take alot more Although plausible, the problem I see would be keeping the homemade schrader down to the same size and still function as well as the original. It is possible, but it would be a ta...

Do you know how much pressure the cartridge can hold? and how's the size compared to your original design?

In the proposed system, it looks as though the trigger has to be reset every single time you fire. Are there any plans on designing the trigger to reset itself so all you have to do is pull the trigger?

Very nice. One question though, when you are pulling back on any given band(?), do you have any problems with the rotation mechanism wanting to rotate? Do you think it would be worth trying to have a locking mechanism to lock the barrel?

I'm still a bit fuzzy on the details here. You say the valve is actuated by the valve stem. In your diagram, would that be the golden piece on the bottom or the red piece to the left? Also, it looks as though the valve itself could be used for a cartridge if it were modified to be pressurized before...

My concern here is the spring closing the chamber. It seems as though you are assuming the spring will remain open when there is no pressure acting against it but it will close when there is a full chamber of pressure. Could you clarify this for me?

Interesting, but I don't think it would work out. This is in some ways accomplished by the competitions as well, so to some degree the winners of the competitions are in the "Hall of Fame".

I don't think the energy created in the rapid compression would be dense enough to cause an ignition. Much like the problems with spark gaps, the energy needs to be concentrated in a very small area in order to ignite propane, especially with higher mixes.

Thanks for the information Have you loaded up HDGT ....? It can answer much of what you are look for. I would like to make a presentation on hybrid cannons, so given the resources, I would like to be able to explain the science and the formulas behind it. It is a very handy to have HDGT around thoug...

Hybrid Equations

So I have been doing my homework, but there are some things in Hybrid cannon design that I cannot seem to find. Could someone kindly provide the equations and/or explanation as how to find: The amount of energy required to ignite propane at different mixes. -and- The amount of energy produced by the...

An interesting endeavor. My only concern would be the triggering mechanism. Since you mentioned six chambers, I assume you will release this though some type of valve. Care to share your thoughts on this?

Also, with the chambers be stationary, or will the move about an axis to the firing mechanism?

I am just going by ear here, but it sounds like it drastically looses power as the tank pressure decreases (as it very well should). Any theories yet on how to combat this? Also, looking at the first picture, is this actually valve #5? Those valves in the picture look nothing like the ones in the ot...
