Looks about the right size for a drill press. No more stepped belts. :) Check with the manufacture of the speed controller. Most have programmable ranges. Items such as accelleration, minimum, braking rate, maximum speed and such are often just software parameters. [/url] Unfortunately I don't thin...

Uses for a large electric motor?
Anyone have any cool ideas for what to do with a large industrial motor? There is a separate speed controller that allows the RPMs to be adjusted from 100 to about 700. And there is also a large inverter/power supply thing. Only the motor is pictured below. I was thinking either a compressor, a fan,...

I've never done it so I'm not sure, but can't you build your own model rockets with cardboard tubing and wooden fins? It seems like you could make one with more room inside. And you could use multiple rocket motors. Even if it was a complete failure, it would be hilarious. I kinda want to do this no...

Ok, if you wanted to make a time release balloon, couldn't you use a shitty digital watch with an alarm? You could connect electric fuse (the ones used to launch model rockets) wires to the little speaker connections, so you could set a ~5 second alarm and then you would need that igniter to somehow...

PVC Raft/Boat Motor
I'm bored and have a surplus of money. I want to build a PVC (or other pipe) raft that can be used to haul things. Like my friend's jetski could tow it and we could load coolers and maybe 1-2 people on it for island parties. I was wondering if there are any useful ways to maybe make the raft self-po...

Metal water bottle thread size?
Do most metal water bottles have a common thread size for the cap (for use as an air chamber)? If so, what is it?
I'm looking to make something similar to this:
