0.20g bb won´t work, go get some 0.35g or 0.40g bbs, they are for airsoft sniper rifles. I was able to reach a 3/4 grouping at 50m with 0.25g bbs with a homemade airgun, but needed to be one a windless day and I used more than 8bar. Good airsoft bbs are far better than homemade drag-stabilized proj...

Most accurate/predictable 6~15mm airgun ammo?
Hey! Recently, I started a competition with a friend of mine to see who can build the most accurate airgun. We will be firing at targets from 10 to 50 meters (with 10 meter intervals) to see who can get the best accuracy and/or grouping. We agreed on three regulations: Sub-15mm caliber, no CO2 and h...

I don't think your valve setup is going to be enough, think about it your pistons are expected to do enough work in under 2mm of displacement, to open a poppet valve that opens less than 2mm which will provide enough air to fire the bb and cycle everything? I don't get the part where the piston onl...

Beautiful rendering but I can think of much simpler and efficient designs for hammer valves in practice, here's some not-so-original ideas I had floated around ;) Thank you for your idea and opinion, however. I want to create a balance between simplicity and functionality. Two things I really wante...

--post was somewhat too long to include in here-- What an odd reply :D though creative And informative; about the hammervalve friction problem, I think I'll just try some lubrication first. If it doesn't work after that, I could just pop in a new valvehead. The large distance the bolt has to travel...

Gas piston surface area question (for an [semi-]automatic)
Hey guys! I've designed many automatics prior to this one, but they were all too complicated and hard to build from standard materials. So I decided to go open-bolt style and have the bolt as one solid chunk of aluminium piping. The result is quite elegant, I must say  But there's an issue. Y...

Just happened to come up with something: http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/3937/airminediagram2.png The way it would work; >> Bury it deep enough for only the raster of barrels to be exposed. >> In the event that someone steps on the raster, the sharpened piping attached to it will puncture the bu...

Have a look here . What the Monsoon does is essentially have a suppressor where the rear wall isn't fixed but is actually a piston coaxial with the barrel. After the pellet passes, air fills the suppressor chamber and pressurises it, pushing the chamber back and recocking the mechanism. Granted, th...

Looks like it would work, if you have the right resources to fabricate the parts with necessary precision, but it's too complex in my opinion. How about using gas bled off from the barrel to cycle the action, as in gas fed rifles? Using gas from the barrel to cycle would require alot of pressure, I...

Select-fire, double valved, gas-operated (concept w/ .gif)
Sup guys ;D Here's a firing action I designed two days ago. It's heavily inspired by the way modern automatic rifles work. The neat thing about this design is that it cycles AFTER the bb has been fired, and always fires even pressures are too low to cycle it (you cycle it manually, in that case) . (...
