One of the many helpful articles that I found on the net: Air compressors for newbies - By Forrest Addy Picking a compressor means treading a minefield of fraudulent claims. No matter what it says on the side of the tank, ALL consumer grade compressors are deceptively or fraudulently rated. I'm not...

Not too expensive...
Wow ... you are willing to pay $65.98 for a plastic
sprinkler valve? Have you considered designing a more effective, yet cheaper piston valve?

you can also use a pressure switch attached to the sprinkler valve I don't like that relief valve setup on QEV and piston valve, I think its best for sprinkler valves or spring loaded valves that can be filled from the chammber Could you explain why you don't like that setup, and why you think it w...

I had a similar question to this earlier, and there the answer was the CFM is how many cubic feet the compressor sucks IN at a givin tank/internal psi. Thus it is outputting a much smaller volume of 90psi air then it is intaking due to compression. So with your understanding, could you show me how ...

That makes more sense, because a different output valve would blow out more air than a blowgun or something. I never really pay attention to the CFM anyway though. When I bought my compressor, I wanted it to be 4+ gallon tank 2+ HP $100 or under (minus all the QC's and air tools) $150 or under (air...

The regulator puts only a set amount of air into the chamber. If the chamber is exhausted, the regulator will open and remain open until the chamber reaches the preset PSI on the regulator. Thanks. So looks like I will have to invest in an adjustable relief valve. I will rig my compressor up to the...

Query about CFM

Okay, so I understand what Cubic Feet Per Minute is ... but I don't exactly understand the term "x CFM @ x PSI? For example, on some air compressors, the specs will show: 4.7 CFM @ 90 PSI So does that mean that it can fill a 4.7 Cubic Feet chamber to 90 PSI in one minute? ... Or a 2.35 Cubic Foot Ch...

Spudnik then what you want is a generic small, cheap, regulator. Pick one up at the local hardware store for $10~$20. Cool .. Okay, so a regulator would also automatically perform the "venting" task, when the main piston valve chamber reaches the set PSI? All I know is that a regulator controls the...

A safety relief valve probably wont work. Usually, that type of valve opens predictably at a set pressure but they will stay open until the pressure drops well below the set point. They really aren't designed to act as a regulator and won't do a very good job. Hmmm ... I've seen some that reclose w...

...something in the back of my mind tells me that you could modify a regulator to accomplish this "adjustable PSI relief"... That's what I was thinking. Most regulators have an adjustments, which is usually some type of screw. That screw could be replaced with a thumb screw for quick adjustments. A...

This is like one of those words that you spell and then ask yourself several times if you spelled it correctly, but no matter what you do you can't get it to look right. this is how I am looking at this. I suppose it would work if you could eliminate the friction factor through some stroke of geniu...

Think about this. A large chamber has say x amount of air in it. A chamber half the size but twice the pressure has the same amount of air in it. A chamber half the size again but double the pressure has the same amount of air as before. So by following that logic, you should be able to make a cham...

not cheap but take a look here and here . With a bit of ingenuity you could easily make your own. You are the man Jack! :) I'm not going to buy that valve, "but" at least I now have a reference for my concept. I may design my own. But, something in the back of my mind tells me that you could modify...

It's been thought of before for full auto and what you need are: Relief Valves Thanks ... but I am very well aware that relief valves exist. Those don't do the job that I need though, as in my OP I wrote that I needed the PSI to be "adjustable" (variable PSI setting). I need to be able to change th...

Auto Chamber Loading With Adjustable PSI

Auto Chamber Loading With Adjustable PSI: I need a way to accomplish this. I am looking for some type of pop-off valve; one that would work in a way whereas you could actually adjust the PSI level that actuates the safety release. Basically I want to automate the triggering for my system. Rather tha...
