Ok i understand why the tapped fitting fits into the top of the solenoid but why does the other end of the hose (the one coming off the solenoid) always seem to go into the top of the blowgun valve

I am new to the art of cannon making and i was looking at some simple cannons i could build you now the cannons with a modded sprinkler solenoid and i thought why is the hose fitting inserted in the top of the blowgun trigger valve is there any particular reason for this or just consistency (I think...
