this is my idea for a shotgun/grenade round. i was hopping it would open on impact but it open upon exit of the barrel which is fine. the ends are poker chips and the sides are tape. it is for a 1.5'' barrel. i filled it with flour but it could easily be filled with bb's ect.

its just a cylinder. the spring is to keep it open when you filling via a hole at the top and then when it hits its was supposed to have burst but the pressure from the rappid acceleration caused it to burst as it came out of the barrel. it still made a good cloud of flour

you should try shooting ply wood with it filled with flour. the flour is probably going to do decent damage since it would be heavier than bbs.

How powerful is the spring? Also, how is this type of unloading compared to other "widely accepted" methods of dispersing small pellets? And finally, how's the paper holding up on the sides? It seems to me to be a bit weak and flimsy for it to contain enough small objects to push down the spring.

they arent paper...
it looks like layered masking tape, which would be quite a buit stronger than paper.
