I have another idea. Take a bunch of pennies and melt them with a blow torch and put them in a peice of 2" pvc (don't do too many at once since it could melt) and just make a solid copper slug.

that would be cool, but time consuming, and several dollars.

the several dollars part was a joke. the only problem is that I do not have my acetylene torch yet, and i already have steel slugs. this would be cool if polished.

Time for another one.

Steel rod, the hardest you can get your hands on, sharpened to a point and using a reuseable polymorph tail and sabot.

Image

Fire it with enough pressure behind it and you might find the tail will come off because the rod will go through the target and the plastic can't hold all that tightly to steel.

Mind you, who cares if the tail comes off after the rod hits the target point-first?

Get the rod out of whatever you hit with a pair of pliers, reattach tail, put the sabot bits back on and refire :)

If you don't know what polymorph is, its a plastic which melts at 62*C, so you can mould and shape it with hot water or whatever the instructions suggest. Its supposed to be similar to nylon when its cooled down again.

Heres a link to it for America http://www.wfr-aquaplast.com/tmppcc_default.htm

For the UK theres this link: http://www.mutr.co.uk/prodDetail.aspx?prodID=576

Come to think of it, its not necessary to have a solid sabot as the tail blocks the barrel enough to deliver the force.

Use sections of thick foam to keep the rod centred in the barrel. They'll fly off on firing and will keep the weight down so the dart can accelerate to a higher speed before leaving the barrel.

Insulation foam is an example material.

I would make a sabot with foam or something. I love the idea. that plastic stuff, well, I may eventually buy some, but its kinda expensive at $17.50
u.s dollars per pound.

I'll let you off if you want to make a tail out of wood instead then :)

It'll do exactly the same thing, I just have this thing about polymorph

Anyways, its not a complicated shape, a slight cone at the end of a short cylinder with a hole drilled at the tip to slot the rod into. All it does is block the barrel to get the air pressure transferred to the dart then cause enough drag to keep the tail at the back in flight.

how did you find out about that stuff, anyway? :?

if creating drag is what I must do, I will attach a wooden disc cut with a hole saw on the back. that should work.

Have you even seen a cap gun with gunpowder caps? Maybe you could fill a TP tube with some flour and glue some caps to the front, maybe put some inside, and it might ignite the flour? Lol that would be fun to shoot that at a cardboard box and watching it burn
You may be able to tell I like fire

Hmm, I wonder what would happen if a squirrel were to "wander..." in front of my target....

Or, if you REALLY wanted to, you could put a cardboard divider in the middle of a TP tube, put some red phosphorous in one end, some white in the other, so when it hits they mix and explode violently...

In a more realistic perspective, how about something full of car battery acid?

Oh! Wearing goggles, use a hammer to shatter a bunch of marbles. Using a milk cap as wadding, load a bunch of shards. Not birdshot, squirrelshot!

So please if someone say something like “death to squirrels!” don’t respond and go on and on about how you think killin is wrong just ignore it, please.

Notice how I avoided mentioning that I wanted to intentionally shoot a squirrel.

I wonder what kind of power you would need for a bowling ball gun?

1) silly putty with nails/ thumbtack in it, major damage
2) flat tipped, copper with a cross cut in it, splits on impact...
... if you can just imagine what a round that does that can do...
