Shooting golf balls that rise

Imagine the center of a 6 foot barrel bending out about 6" kind of like a simple archers bow.
I know that golf balls rise if they have back spin on them so I was thinking of making a golf ball barrel and using a cable and center pressure point to create a decent arc in the barrel. This should cause the ball to start spinning in the proper direction before leaving the barrel.
Do you think the arc will create enough friction to get the golf ball to backspin as much as a golf club creates? If it can, this will make a golf ball travel further than a ball with no spin from a straight barrel, IMHO.
You would have to just drop the ball in, though, and not use tissue for the tight fit. The gain in distance from the rise might not outweigh the distance gained from a tissue sabot.
What are your thoughts?

IF you have a sleved barrel for the golf ball, the points where the sleeve meets ceates more than enough backspin, or front spin it depends on how you mount it

The barrel on my GB combustion has warped over time from being left out in the sun with only a fading spray paint job to protect it. If you shoot the cannon so the barrel is hooking upward you can generate some noticeable backspin.
I've noticed comparably to a driver the effect is more dramatic. The ball will stay fairly level tell about ~80 yds. out then it will hook upward. As well the bend in the barrel isn't all that much. Looking at the gun you can't hardly tell the warp in the barrel. So maybe jig up a barrel on a hot summer day, and no need for contraction?

Excellent idea! Las Vegas has the perfect weather for that. Haha.
Shouldn't the barrel be hooked downward so the friction is created on the top of the ball? This should spin the ball like a fast pitch baseball. With the top of the ball moving through the air slower than the bottom of the ball. The air resistance is greater on the bottom of the ball creating 'rise'. 2500+ rpm's should do the trick.

Hasn't the "bent barrel" idea been used in paintball guns? Google " Flatline Barrel" Or,

So it should work. Just need to figure out how much the barrel needs to be curved and how to get sufficient friction between the barrel and ammo.

I used sand paper one time. worked pretty good but it was hell to get it to stay in the end of the barrel. I wouldn't suggest curving the barrel its not really needed.

I was thinking the same since many airsoft barrels use a rough spot at the end of the barrel.
Maybe a slit could be cut at the end and pressed slightly together, with the grip tape on top or bottom half.
Reminds me of another idea (against rules to discuss) similar to the way a match strikes against the striker.

or just make a simple hop-up system for a GB barrel, have a rubber strip on the top side of the barrel, holding the GB at the breech, this will create backspin and it should increase power a little cause the GB won't start to move until a higher pressure is reached

Now there's an interesting thought...wonder how much angle it would take to get some usable spin? May depend on on how much friction the projectile has on the barrel to begin with.
