Good online source of large pressure rated PVC fittings

I'm building a water gun and for higher water capacity I'm using 4 inch PVC pipe. In the past I've used bell reducers but I've since learned that they're not pressure rated.

Local stores don't seem to carry larger pressure rated fittings. I've also checked out McMaster-Carr but nothing I'm looking for is pressure rated there.

Going by the prices given by Charlotte Pipe on their website a 4 inch coupler and 4 inch to 2 inch bushing is what I need. 4 inch to 2 inch pressure rated bell reducers exist but they're only made in schedule 80 and cost over $100. I can't seem to find where to order on their website so I assume they just distribute to other stores.

Does anyone know a good source of large pressure rated PVC fittings? Or am I missing something on the Charlotte Pipe website?

I'm not sure Charlotte Pipe sells to an individual. If they do, they don't seem to have an online ordering system for public access. It looks like they use the old fashioned sales rep system. Look at the column on the right and click on "Find a Local Rep". It can't hurt to give him a call and get the scoop.

Just about every decent sized city in the US has at least one commercial plumbing outlet supplying the construction industry. Take a look in your local yellow pages or ask the "older" plumbing guy at your Home Depot.

Thanks for some tips.

ewings1.com isn't a registered domain name. What domain did you mean frankrede?

I'll give a local rep a call too. That's a good idea I hadn't considered.

Ah. That makes sense.

There's no store even remotely where I live so I'm going to order online.

I'm looking at everything there and am ready to order but there's nothing that says these fittings are pressure rated. Since this store was suggested I assume they are but I'd just like to double check before wasting some money.

The big issue with buying pvc online is the shipping problem of long lengths of pipe. Fittings are no big deal.

I already own plenty of 4 inch pipe so that's no problem. For some reason Home Depot and Lowes have no problem stocking pressure rated pipe up to 6 inches but don't stock pressure rated fittings. That makes no sense at all to me.

I suppose I'll order it then. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll post a thread about my water gun design later today because I think some here would find it interesting.

Really? What kind of fittings are you looking for? Because McMaster-Carr has a vast selection of PW rated PVC fittings.

As I said in the first post, I need a 4 inch coupler and a 4 inch by 2 inch bushing. McMaster-Carr carries neither with a pressure rating, likely due to the large size. If they do carry what I'm looking for, let me know, but I'm fairly certain that they don't because I've looked several times.

They are as far as I know, they supply golfcourse sprinkler lines, so I would assume so. Maybe you should send them an email.

I already received them and one was NSF-PW rated and the other NSF-61 rated. After some research I learned they were the same rating so I'm good. Shipping was fairly fast too.
