For parts where all three stores are an option... (primarily PVC pipe/fittings) what would be your choice:

Lowes
Menards
Ace Hardware

I find more PVC parts at Home Cheapo then I do any where else.

Side note: You spell your name wrong, it's Jarrod!

Lowes is pretty cheap, and they have a great selection.
Home Depot is another good option also.

I do not know if this applies to you, but the smaller hardware stores are usually better, because the ones here let you cut custom lengths of pipe so you don't have to buy 20 feet if you only need 3... being in Canada, i don't know any of those places, i use mostly home hardware, and Canadian tire if unavoidable.

ace hardware is one of those places (I got a 2 or 3 foot piece of 2" there a while back).... my only thought was maybe lowes or menards would have pvc with ends that would just work to start

I went to America in 2007 and though I never went to a Lowes, I heard that they commonly stock larger diameter PVC pipe and fittings then a Home Depot would.

Home Depot was really good, Ace Hardware was alright if you just needed little things, it was a lot closer to my hotel as well. :)
