I don't know why spuds are used so much. Here's one of the many options of accurate, durable ammo. I use it for all my spudguns and I made a tutorial:

Another nice tutorial, Mr Durden will be proud :) I would suggest using a bolt instead of a battery though if "durability" is a concern.

I saw a new post and I was sure it's you. Thanks for the attention and thank you guys, even that you don't comment I get subs.
Battery is similar softness and will wear out similar to the plastic. The screw short circuits it trough and it can spray some nasty things on impact.
Can you please comment, is the video boring, is it like you'd love to see how it's done, but you're lazy for 3:00 min video?

I suppose that is OK for long distance and slower launchers. High speed launches and hard targets tend to damage the batteries.

I launched this battery with a sabot from a larger launcher onto a sheet of plate steel at close range.

The launch day. 2.5 inch cannon with AA battery in a foam sabot. Target, 1/2 inch steel plate.

What did you launch it with? Free flying batteries don't do much damage to hard targets, like hard wood. Batteries are the first easy choice, a bolt is a more durable solution.

Personally if I didn't comment it's nothing to do with the video but because I just don't interact with youtube, it's just a video upload site in my book. I don't answer comments on my own video and private message queries get redirected to spudfiles.

Is there a reason, you neglect youtube so much? Do you have channel there?

Because since it's so universal, there are lots of stupid people there :) I prefer to redirect queries to this forum where they can be answered in an environment that promotes safe and responsible practices, and in more detail.

I haven't noticed much of a safety discussion on the cannons posted here, that wouldn't take place on youtube. If you ever see a safety issue with some of my stuff, please let me know.

This guy left a few comments on my videos: http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/youtube ... 23876.html

He died doing something unrelated, but still, you have to be careful about how and in what context you distribute advice.

I don't want to start discussing O2/NOx enriched mixtures on youtube because there's a lot to be said and can't be done well in the comments section.
