Hey everyone,
Have made a simple spud gun that kicks out of unrated pipe...
It hasnt exploded yet, but have just been using deoderent.
I am addicted to launching potatos and am looking to make a more powerful cannon powered by ABS, but am looking for a supplyer.
Have tryed Reece and Trade Link and Bunnings but noone seams to supply it.
Can anyone give a link/place where Solid core ABS (min SCH40) can be purchased ?
Live on north shore.
Thanks,
Will

Ok, been researching this shitloads and found a couple of supplyers and the specs of their pipe.
---------
Reece sells
Vinidex Pressure pipe.
This comes in two varities that can be used in spud cannons:
PN12 = Rated to 1200KPA (or 174psi)
PN18 = Rated to 1800KPA (or 261psi)
I got quoted over the phone
50mm PN12 = $19.50 p/m
100mm PN12 = $22.50 p/m
The guy on the phone was in a rush so i asked aprox how much more the PN18 was and he said aprox $4-5 more p/m
Will be buying some of this in a cople of days from artarmon Reece - if anyone wants to go in with me that would be sweet.
---------
Also got a quote from
TradeLink chatswood for some ABS pipe.
It was heaps expensive....
PIPE ABS PRESS CLASS 9 SWJ 50mm x 6mtr = $93.30
PIPE ABS PRESS CLASS 9 SWJ 100mm x 6mtr = $210.73
PIPE ABS PRESS CLASS 15 SWJ 50mm x 6mtr = $136.30
PIPE ABS PRESS CLASS 15 SWJ 100mm x 6mtr = $319.72
they also sell Pressure rated Iplex PVC...
PIPE PRESS CLASS 12 SWJ PVC 50MM X 6MTR = $49.03
PIPE PRESS CLASS 12 SWJ PVC 100MM x 6MTR = $116.05
I am not sure what pressure rating this is. you could look and c if u can find it on their website - but i couldnt see it.
Hope this helps any Aussie - NSW Potato Cannon builders..
Thanks,
Will

WOW! 20 BUX a Metre!?!? i was under the impression that it would be far cheaper, do they have off-cuts for a fraction of the price if not for free?

Look under fire resistance.
Will not support combustion

Vinidex Pressure pipe isnt iplex
even if it was - my combustion cannon is handling propane fine....
Also....
The general physical properties of PVC are given in Table 2.1
anyways....
Thanks 4 the heads up

I went to reece today, and he didn't even know what PN or Bar was, so i had to say i wanted something rated for 200 PSI, i asked for 50mm, and he told me i could only buy it in a 'length' being 6 metres for $80 AUD, thats about $13.35 a metre, that doesn't sound right in any way!
I don't know what rating that had, cause i didn't ask him, but i want some 1500kPa, now that i relised that 1 bar is 100 kPa
