Well I got this old sword from my old Grandpa a while ago. I was wondering if its worth anything???????????? My Grandpa said it's from the battle of waterloo! I seriously doubt it, as he was given it in exchange for painting a persons house.

It looks like it's from Ming dynisty twith that dogs head on the handle and the ingraveings on the blade. I have a customer who's into dealing anteks, i'll see if i can get his email for you and you send him the pics and good description he can more then likely help you. The battle of waterloo was the French with Napolien, against i don't know who??? But i will tell you this from watching The Anteks Road Show, swords with ingraveings are normaly made for the higher ups in the army's.

Did it kill someone. My friend sold a bayanet (SP) for like 50 bucks because it killed someone in world war 2. If your grandpa gave it to you why would you sell it?

$50 is a total ripoff for the seller. $50 is NOTHING! I spend 50 bucks on gas for a week or two. For a World War II bayonet that killed someone, I would expect to pay hundreds.

And Killagorrila, there is still no B in the word DAMN.

Napoleon Bonaparte was defeted at Waterloo in 1815, by english, Prussian and DUTCH (!!) forces.
Chinese swords are usually straight.I don't believe this sword is Chinese.
It defenitely looks to be european from around the 1800's.
( kinda like the swords that General Custer would have had)
I aggree the ingravings imply it would have most likely belonged to an officer.
Standard millitairy rifles and swords would have a serial number and would not be decorated.

It could be some kind of replica though.
Check for numbers or letters on the sword.
Also the material used is a good indication. Is it real steel, meant to do damage, or is it only good for decoration??

I got one Mauser bajonet from WWII ( German)
I inhereted it from my grandfather
Don't know how he got it.
He was sent to Germany to do forced labour in the war.
He must have stolen it or something.

There is no cearial number on it. The steel is real, meant for damage and im thinking about selling it.
