Why do people feel the need to put down others? If someone is good at something then so be it, there is no need to put them down for it. Wheter its jealosuy or not, why waste the time to ruin their day?

How do you pick those locks that look like a cylinder with a pin on it?

If I was interested in "locksports" as you call it, and had constructed a basic set of picks and wrenches from brickstrap, and practiced on various locks around my house, I would not admit to it

Owning a set of lockpicks (unless you're a licensed locksmith) is a felony crime in some places. It's a very cool specialty, though. I wish I had more time to research it.

Peace,
Pete Zaria.

Well, Blb, i was really just messinmg around with the posters above my 1st, and no i don't have a elitist atitude. Go back and reread the 1st line, it's a challanage to pick harder locks to munialate open. Go ahead, it's unedited, you can see for yourself. O-before i forget, the 3rd sentance in my 1st post, it's advice to improve your lock picking skills, hows that you say? Well. Blb, notice i said the names of some locks, and i didn't even charge for that very vailable information!

So, here we are Blb, lets review shal we.
1) You took my post way way the wrong way!
2) You unnessarly flamed me, thus calling me out!
3) If you don't know anything about it, why flame me for knowing something about it?

Here i'll make it easier for ya -- For those of you who think they are good at picking locks, try picking tubular locks once. Hehehe! Or heres some pratice for you lock pickers, try to pick Kwikset Titan's knobs or deadbolts take your pick, excuse the pun.
Edit: I forgot to say, you guys should stick to picking your noses, leave the locks to the professonal locksmiths like me!

Edit: I forgot to say, GET YOUR FINGER OUT OF YOUR NOSE! THATS DISCUSTING!!!

You also take it the wrong way, i don't put other people down. Show me anything i've posted on Spudfiles that puts someone down???

To say that I know <i>nothing</i> about it because I've never done it is to equate ignorance with lazyness.
And there are lots of lazy nerds.

Furthermore, being upset because someone knows something you don't - especially if they are sharing it - is just plain nonsensical.

Anyways, you apparently realized that you where being sarcastic in your first post.
This, you see, is the root of the problem: we didn't realize this.

And why should we? This is the internet, and as such there are no extra-literary cues to alert us that you were not being serious... and so we took the phrase "<i>For those of you who think they are good</i>" and "<i>I forgot to say, you guys should stick to picking your noses, leave the locks to the professonal locksmiths like me!</i>" at face value.
And, to me and some others, they appeared to be condescending and elitist.

Perhaps that was not the intention, but this fiasco is entirely your fault for failing to properly transmit your feelings.

Hey
Nice work on making those picks pyromanic13.
I see this caused a bit of trouble and such with the actual locksmiths who read this, i didn't mean for that.
Its just an interesting hobby and some people even call it physical hacking.
It is illegal to own them without a premit and such, but having them inside your house is a bit of a grey area iv heard. Just don't give the police any reason to look for lockpicks in your house ;).

I picked two VERY shitty locks in the school lobby after school, I could see the pins being pushed..

Hey all,

I can see internet sarcasm is still a problem but lets forget that right now. I just got back to the site yesterday, been kinda slow with school and all, but im glad i did for i see there are some lock picking interests here. Well needless to say i own several books on lock picking and was going to build my own. Thanks to this topic i found the source of material for my picks and wrench. I have a couple of Carbon blades lying around so i built some.

The first i tempered wrong. Then the next three i built were perfect. Then using my torch i make a wrench.

Im not going to pick today but i will soon.

P.S. The guy in the vid in this topic said " I've tried tin snips.....and they don't work" when he was referring to making the wrench by splitting a piece of a blade. Well i tried his method a little and gave up, well it turns out the tin snips frick up one of the sides and leaves the other perfect. Tin snips do work, if used properly. I also just used a copper rivet to make them into one tool.

Any who there they are bellow. PEACE!!!!!!!!
