If you can afford it, try carbon fiber. You could also try foam. Take a look at remember www.RCGroups.com lots of neat RC stuff.

Fiberglass is strong, lightweight, and reasonably easy to work with.

I'd imagine you could mold the entire thing out of bondo if you really wanted to...

You should find an R/C forum for this question. They'd be able to help you out more there.

Peace,

a bondo airplane, however cool it may be, would never get off the ground.

I wouldn't recommend attempting to make the entire plane from bondo, but individual parts (cowlings, engine covers, body panels, etc...) should be fine. Bondo is not strong enough to be used for structural joints or wings, of course. I'm just saying, it could probably be done. Fiberglass or balsa are better choices.

I'm curious about this "valveless rocket". What do you have in mind?

Peace,
Pete Zaria.

Tell you the truth i need to get a arc welder first to make it.
I hope to just integrate a valveless rocket or two, (depending on the trust calculations) into the plane. I'm hoping to make it R/C too. I'm thinking this might be a stretch even for me but I have people that can assist me too.

Any who, as far as fiberglass goes, how exactly do you buy this. Can you just buy the resin. Then make your mold???

carve the shape out of foam, hollow it out leaving as thin a wall as you can then pull nylon stockings over it and paint with fibreglass resin
