If your filing a loaded gun, then you're doing it wrong.

Either that or I have a really boring concept of what high speed footage should look like

"And if I get back before the sun goes down, I might catch some grass growing at 1000fps!" :D

EDIT: I just filmed my eyes shaking side-to-side really fast, and it turns out my iris flexes and stretches when I do... kinda like jelly. Looks cooler than I thought it would.

Bah... youtube's destroyed the quality, but you can still sorta see what I mean...

Shameless double post, but I think these vids are good enough to warrant it...

The match going through the air was neet to watch on it's own much less when it hits the foil pan. Someone should film some match rockets in high speed  .

!!!WARNING FIRE HAZARD!!!

This should only be done outside on concrete surface away from all other flammable meterials.

Match rocket: 1 match with the sulfur end and half the stick/paper wrapped in aluminum foil heated with a lighter until it lights and shoots across the fire proof surface it's laid on.

I've got a few vids of match rockets I could upload later. They didn't come out that great... match rockets are really tiny and really fast, and the smoke can obscure them a bit. I might try and get some better footage of them once I get time.

I'd like to see someone film toilet paper being shot with a strong rubber band. If you do it hard enough you can get it to flare up and tear to tiny bits that go all over the place, much like confetti, fairly cool acctually.

Might as well stick this here too :D

Finally had a play with windows movie maker, Rammstein in the background certainly enhances the visuals hehe

Haha, wow. That sure looks cool.

I did somthing quite stupid with my camera yesterday... dumped a capacitor bank through some aluminium foil to film the resulting sparks, but had the camera sitting a tad too close...

Result was that there is now a tiny fleck of aluminium embedded in the lens coating which I can't remove. Luckily it's small enough that it doesn't affect the image quality whatsoever, but I still felt stupid for not doing a test first to see how far the sparks went...

Ouch!

I had a similar moment, if you look at the first biscuit tin being shredded you can see that the acrylic protecting the camera from ricochets is actually blown over by the muzzle blast and gets caught in a burst, also I shattered the face of my halogen lamp

Oh well, shit happens I guess.

Besides, now that the camera is 'scarred' I'm treating it less and less like the most valuable thing ever, and more like a camera. I find that with brand new stuff I become overcautious until somthing minor happens to it then I just say 'stuff it' and use it normally.

EDIT: Ahaha, I re-read this post and went 'Why the heck did I write 'crap happens'? That sounds dumb.... went to edit and realised it had censored me.

So true :) still, doesn't mean you should be reckless. I should eventually have some proper protection on the way :)

I really shouldn't post until I've got my ducks in a row but damnit, I'm excited!

Today I managed to get some interesting video....

600 fps golfball meets watermellon.

The fun part?

8000 frames per second in 24-bit color at 1024x1024 resolution video. :D

I *WILL* be posting the video. Unfortunately, file sizes get massive in a hurry so there may end up being compromises. Maybe it's resolution. Maybe it's frame rate. Dunno at the moment. I'll keep ya'll posted.
