what might be a sign that the barrel is shot out????

please help should i get a new barrel?
Range? Ammo brand, type, weight, and charge? Brand of rifle? Brand of scope? Magnification? Range conditions/weather? Size of group? Type of bench/rest/vise used? Number of rounds fired? How long since it was last cleaned?

Seriously, your question is about like asking, "I have a car, it's running like crap, what's wrong with it?"

hahaha, ok, yes i clean it alot, is a 22 mag, the rifle is a marlin, nikon scope 3 by 9 by 40 , i was using winchester super x, , me nd my buddy of made a thing just for sighting in ours guns, using clamps, the scope was on the bullseye the entire time, and the groups were like 2 here , one is the bullseye and many others were all over the target
i was shooting at 50 yrds, but at 100 it was all over the place, a 22 mag should dead on

but b4 my buddies house, i had it on my boyt rest,( not the prettiest but it has elevation on it for the front of the gun and tweaking for it at the feet and a butt rest, yes same ammo i sight in with is what i hunt and target shoot with

any ideas?

There could be problem with your scope mount, has it slipped any on the rails or does it feel loose?

OK, jsefcik, let's make sure of the issue here: You say you're putting the scope on the bulls-eye. Are you re-aiming the gun after every shot?

What you need to do is aim the gun and lock it down, then fire a a set number of shots (preferably ten or twenty._ without moving the gun. Then check your scope to see if the reticule (crosshair) is still centered on the bulls-eye. If your group is tight, but the scope is NOT on the bulls-eye anymore, then you have a bad scope. If the group is scattered, but the scope is still perfectly on the bulls-eye, then it's your rifle. If the group is scattered AND the scope is off the bull, then it's your vise moving.

ooooh! Nice Dobsonfly! He's a big-un.

I used to love it when people would bring those in to the park nature center I volunteered at. They'd always have this really freaked out look on their faces, and they'd always have it in a shoe-box, something WAY bigger than necessary so they wouldn't have their fingers colse to it when they caught it...

Most of the time it would already be dead, so when they vveeeerrrryyyy ssssslllllooooowwwwwlllyyyyy opened hte box, I'd have to fight the overwhelming temptationg to leap back screaming "OH MY GOD WHAT THE H*LL IS THAT?!!!"

BTW, the big mandibles are totally harmless. They're just to help them hold the female when they're mating. The females, OTOH, can put a nasty pinch on you with their much smaller jaws. And the larvae, helgramites, can bite the living SNOT out of you if you step on one in a stream.

Haha, good thing I don't have them around me (at least I don't think so, but I think I'da noticed by now lol). On the subject of bugs, today a big ass curly tail (reptile actually... Whatever) jumped into my AC unit while the fan blades were spinning and got mutilated. I guess it got spooked when I got near haha. I saw a piece of it's tail shoot out after I heard the sputtering of it's body getting repeatedly sliced by the blades. I'm no lizard hater though, I actually love them. Just kinda made me chuckle :P
