If getting pulled over for a minor traffic infraction was the scariest moment of your life so far, I think you need to get out more

As someone might know, im making a tennisball cannon. And as i want to make the fuel meter as "HiFi" as possible, im using QEVs and all other kinds of nice parts.
The fuel meter will have volume of 92ml and have 2bars of MAPP gas. Fuel will be injected to the chamber with QEV.
ATM i have 1/2" QEV but would 1/4" QEV be enough? That would be smaller in size which would look more sleak IMO

Why a QEV? The speed at which you inject the fuel isn't really important... why not a simple ball valve? Admittedly a blast of fuel might mix it better, but I understand you will have a fan anyway no?jakethebeast wrote:ATM i have 1/2" QEV but would 1/4" QEV be enough? So you're going to pilot the QEV by releasing MAPP gas into the atmosphere and you think that is more hi-tek than a ballbalve?
A solenoid valve would make more sense.
A circuitboard wich would automate the entire process would be cooler I guess.
If you could run the circuit and valves on energy generated by the shot or pressure it'd be even cooler...

In a 1/4" union, about how many sheets of aluminum foil is appropriate for ~12x mix (propane)? I say about 12x because I'm measuring by preignition pressure (160 psi) not by mix
I cut 64 (in batches of 16) but if that's too strong I don't want to have wasted time cutting them

Just managed to successfully interface this

with COSM
so now controlling a spudgun from the other side of the globe is entirely possible... 8)

Probably a lot less than 64. If I remember correctly, I used 64 layers in a 3/4" burst disk at 10x mixes.PaperNinja wrote:In a 1/4" union, about how many sheets of aluminum foil is appropriate for ~12x mix (propane)? I say about 12x because I'm measuring by preignition pressure (160 psi) not by mix

Just start with 10 layers and go up through the mixes until it bursts (replace the 10 layers after each shot if it doesn't burst) and then double the mix and the foil layers to see if there's a fairly linear relationship. That way you can get a pretty good estimation of how many layers you need for each mix.

BtB, good point, didn't think that myself hehe... MAPP is damn expensive he, don*t want to waste it... How about a 3/2 way valve? I would only need 1 valve and no wasting gas
Charging batteries by power of the shot would be interesting hehe. But the 2x 30kw igniters eat pretty nice amount of electricity, also electronic gauges use some, maybe ill just go with Lithium power bank
Here's 110mm fittings for the chamber

Nice! Love "European" grey fittings
getting dangerously on-topic though, shouldn't you be putting these here?

True JSR, ill continue there when i get some more progress done
EDIT: hmm, looks like i didn't post this pic month ago as i planned... We were taking some shots with my friends Sako .308 varmint rifle. Best group i shot was about 4cm in dia at 75meters with 10 shots, not bad for a hunting rifle. Also the -20 Celsius weather conditions made shooting little tough
Oh and sorry for crappy image quality, my friend is not used to use phones that has either a touch screen and/or a camera

Nice! 75m is too close for a 308 though ;P
