hi, it's my first time here in quite a while.

at the beginning of the school year, my best friend, (who sings+plays acoustic guitar) got a foreign exchange student from germany named ingo, who plays electric guitar. he recently bought a $550 dollar jackson.
(oh, and our pastor on drums)

we decided to form a band. I started playing last christmas, and well, I'm steadily improving. so, we decided to form a band about a month ago.

here's a performance at a local coffee house from a week or two. there were actually over a hundred people there, and this was our firs live performance together. we wrote all the songs, they are all original.

My Surrender-acoustic, bass

Holy Throne-electric, more metal-ish

All of My Life-hard rock

now, I know we have a long way to go, but I dont think it's too bad for a month of work

I wanna play death metal!!!!!

anybody here like morbid angel?

Nice stuff, I just watched Holy Throne and it's quite good for a month of work.

You can't really hear the singer much because the symbols are really loud in the video compared to everything else.

But still very awesome nonetheless.

Hows the pastor gonna approve of death metal? And why play death metal, play some speed metal or black, get some slayer covers?

the pastor is cool, and he's only going to be playing /w/ us until we find a drummer.

he plays bass, drums, and guitar professonally. or, he used to.

I like death meatal a lot.black metal, in my opinion is kinda the less evolved version of death metal. maby "it's ansecestor" or somthing.

slayer is good, but everybody and their grandma listens to slayer.

morbid angel, behemoth, meshuggah. there's some good stuff there.

yep, our lead singer (my best friend since 2nd-3rd grade) is saving up for an electric, and a nice one at that. we'll have two guitars before long.

thanks!

dragonforce is amazing, but the singer is...uh.... not my favorite.

I saw them at ozzfest last year.

all my life was the first song we wrote, and the one we have the most practice at.

the acoustic song was one me and cal wrote about 3-4 days before we preformed.

I'll post more eventually. our church has a recording studio we will use, better sound quality.

Woops  My bad, I was quick to post on that cause to say Dragonforce is slow is well, blasphemous.

Joking aside, Dragonforce are positively pedestrian compared to some guitarists I've heard, and it does sound a bit like they're just mauling at the guitar sometimes.
There's one guy I used to know, a friend of a friend I had at my old school, who gave people on the front row pneumonia with the draft from his fingers when he was playing. I have an mp3 of his playing somewhere, I'm sure...

It's still very funny to watch people try and play Dragonforce tracks on Guitar Hero (or similar games) though.
I don't think I can put it more amusingly than Randall Munroe does in xkcd:

Still I quite like Dragonforce, I'm not insulting them here, but I usually favour slightly slower playing than that.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?
