I found this cannonball and shrapnel last summer while I was diving in a small river called Susica. Beautiful river and very nice place to relax.

Anyway, my father told me than back in the day people used to dispose of their guns and ammunition in this river, more precisely at the exact location where we go to relax. They were afraid of the police, because we have very strict laws. This location is the best for disposal because it is very deep, around 10m (30ft) but last summer it dropped to about 3m (9ft).

I saw my chance and started diving. That day I didn't bring diving mask, so I had to inspect the bottom with my hands. After several attempts, I stumbled upon this cannonball. Shrapnel however, was found at a different location, in dry river bed along with ammunition, coins and medallion (images below).

Now, my father also told me that people threw dynamite to kill fish. So, could this be a homemade bomb that didn't explode. Or perhaps someone modified this cannon ball and converted it to a bomb, added different fuse or something. Any cannonball experts here? :D :D :D :?: :?:

I have nothing to say about the cannonball, but the story behind how you acquired these items (and the items themselves) is remarkable! I wish I could have done something like that.
