I am so happy because with my prize money I am buying a Tippmann 98 custom, mask, hopper and 12 or 20 oz co2 tank.

The cheapest I can get a 98 is R1150 which isn't bad over here. I have been looking all day for cheaper prices and this beats everything. I am really looking forward to making a team and playing tournaments, making upgrades to my marker and improving until I compete on a national level.
http://www.competitivepaintball.co.za/ is the site I am getting my stuff from. I will only be able to buy it next month.

In the mean time I can't wait. So, any tips and such on paintball and modding markers? WARPIG is a really good site.

definently register on PBnation.com

umm... upgrade in order of importance (what'll let you play the best with said money) I know that sounds stupid but idiots will go out and buy a jersey before pants, or buying new grips before a new reg, ect... anything else just ask me or frogy.

To be honest I am a cheap person, I don't like spending money. I will buy what is really important and improvize everything else. I have half a gillee suit which I made but I will see if I will be a sniper or a beserker. I am going to get a 20 oz bottle of co2 and a Vforce mask. Standard cheap hopper.

No, I really want this tippmann 98. Everyday I get on a paintball high. My freind gave me a bullet, it looks like a m16 round but I am sure it is for a machiene gun. How do I get the head off and empty it of the powder safely? I want to put the head back on. 2000 US is like 10 000 rand, my whole kit is going to cost R1550.

Put "slug" in a vice along the Y axis. Then push along the X axis.

R 1550 (ZAR) = ~ $220 USD... so he's not goings to spend $1000+ :D

I'd say the best Tippmann upgrade is a new barrel, buy one as soon as you can, a 14" barrel is best... don't believe people when they say longer = better  ... Only 8" of the barrel is used for acceleration and the rest is used for stability... Too much after the first 8" wil eventually slow the ball...

A good barrel to get is the Freak, but it's "RFE" (really fucking expensive  ) I'd look into J&J Ceramic 14" barrels...

If you make Sheet PVC by cutting a PVC pipe vertically, boilining it, and then flatening it, you can make your own trigger, I made one out of wood, but it broke, so my next rig is going to be PVC

Pffft.... Pvc, ya right. I will make all really good upgrades out of metal(stainless steel, pollished). I don't get the paintball sized pvc here  so I will have to make do with other things. I know what you mean about the barrels, the flatline barrel almost costs as much as the 98!! mabey you can make one. 14" barrel shouldn't be so expensive, how about you guys posting pics of your paintball guns, I am sure you wouldn't mind showing off. There isn't a specific date when I get the most of my money but the prize ceramony on the 19 August will give me R1000. The other part is R1500.

Flatlines are shit on 98 Cust no matter what people say, they take way to much tooning to get them to work even relatively good...

Here's 2 of my guns, rest are at my work (paintball field)... :D

(drool running down shirt onto keybourd) oOOOOOOOo, I really like those paintball guns.
How much did all that cost you?
Didn't you say you had an adapter for the co2 pistol to make it run on large air tanks?
What brand is your co2 pistol?
How often do you play?

I want to take this sport very seriously and work my way up to winning tournaments with my team( three man team, currently one short)

I used to play paintball like every weekend, but I haven't been all summer

That mask cost about $100 (They're Blue Empire E-Vents)
The pants cost about $70 (They're Blue Empire Inverts)
I payed $240 for the Top gun, it sells for $200 now though... (Smart Parts Ion)
I payed $225 for my Compressed air tank (SP Maxflo-Micro 68ci 4500psi)
I payed $85 for the hopper (they're normally $100)
The gun has a few internal upgrades... New Bolt and Magnetic Detents...
The tank cover and barrel cover cost like $30 for both...

The Tipmann 98 Custom cost me $120
The 16" 32 Degree Nyte Stik barrel cost probably $50 (long time ago)
The Tippmanns expansion chamber cost ~ $50 (it has no use on a Tippmann really, it's just for looking and it feels good, looks on a Tippmann )
