Does anybody know if a 12V battery powered weed whacker motor would be enough for a go-kart? Gasoline is just too expensive.

I think it would might work. The little electric go karts at walmart only have 200 watt motors so if the motor you're looking at has more than say 250 - 300 watts you should be fine.

Also check out these two motors. 3.5 hp may not sound like much but trust me it's more then enough power for a go kart. Keep in mind 1 hp is 745 watts

one isnt probably enough but two would definetly be enough. i am thinking of building a motorized scooter using either a petrol motor or electric motor.

I might actually build a mini-tank, with 2 seperate motorized treads, 2 average electric motors should run something like that without the wait of a driver.

You could have four wheels with "mock" tank treads.
