@TCITB: With a punkin chunker yes, that is a potential range - but I did stipulate that I was talking about a golf ball cannon.
With the right ammo, then achieving over a mile of range with a powerful enough cannon isn't hard. But golf balls are not that right ammo.

A pumkin' chunker hardly qualifies as a typical golf-ball cannon. I'm certain there will always be a problem with exaggeration in regards to shooting anything. It may look really far when you fire, but in actuality it is much less than you thought.

Hmmm
20x mix, 30 foot 4" barrel with saboted golfballs?

I never said a definitive 3/4 mile; I live in a pretty cut up corner of town that has streets where you'd find alley ways in other parts of town... skinny paved streets intermittently swapped with regular streets. so in the context of REAL CITY BLOCKS, well I don't have that taped out figure. I guess we could make that attempt as I do have two tapes that would be suitable for that; a fifty and a one hundred....I guess then I'd need a spotter down range to see it hit and to mark the spot...provided nobody got hit...
It is - can't be 3/4 mile to the river ther are only 6 streets and a squiggly blck with ancient mini mansions overlooking the river with a stree at the edge of the hill.If I drew a triangle, I'd be the point the park would be on the right and the river would flow through the left @2/3's away from me on over towards the park and back out @a quarter of the way alog the bsae edge meeting the park...I am on/ near the out-skirts of town and the river winds around this neighborhood
on a side note, I think everybody tends to paint their posts a bit...this after having gone to a few provided links posted by perceiuveed senior members of this site as well as others around the net...I didn't realize that one had to posess a license to be a bullshitter nor did I realize that it was an exclusive club...yaeh, I provide a Missouri overhaul here and there.
seeing as how ther have been an abudancy of responses since my lame attempt to post diddly squat; it was nice to hear some decent comments concerning the wood work. THANK YOU..it was mainly what I was trying to pervay...in context to what it was to...Im using flickr for my photos of this and the dvd cabinet I built, would have some hutch, curio and a dry sink on too but am having troulbe with them as is apparent by my lame attempt here, too. Forr some unknown to me reason wal-mart photo discs load onto flickr with no problem...and every where else but I don't have a lot of those left for some reason after the move

How did you make this grip? What type of wood is it? Can you make a how to? I think it's real cool.
