eeeh i'd rather use real fittings so that i can take it up to higher pressures without any worries.
and im going for aesthetics

People say they've gone past 500 psi with it. But I would do the same thing if I were you. But as for asthetics, the tape is inside the chamber so you dont even see it, and you could just make some sort of cover for the fron, maybe just a cap with a hole drilled.
