My friends and I this summer have been dreaming up a design for a new cannon that we were wanting to make and the valve that we wanted to use was off the spudtech website. Now that it is closed, we dont know where to get one and i came here because (correct me if im wrong) I think spudfiles is affiliated with spudtech. Is there any way I can contact the maker of this product?
you cant get them any more, but you can get a mauler valve from sgort. click on the BC ARMS thing at the top left corner. the mauler valve is just as good (from what i hear, ive never accually bought one).

ah yes, ive heard of the mauler valve from bcarms.com is it? ... hopefully it will offer the same performance as the supah
If you want a Supah valve you will have either find a used valve, or wait for SpudTech to be bought. Although I might suggest that you buy Mauler, a valve having similar performance to a Supah found on BCARMS.com, SpudFiles "Official" store. It is both cheaper, and smaller then the Supah valve. I would say SpudTech has good relations with SpudTech, but there was no affiliations.

The supah was a chamber sealer, the mauler is a barrel sealer. Scuttlebutt says that barrel sealers preform better, but that hasn't been proven. I haven't bought either of them so I couldn't tell you much about them.
You can also find Maulers and others such as Shredders at Gort's web site; launchpotatoes.com.

Which one opens faster depends on the size of the piston and the sealing face. In a valve sized like the Supah, chamber sealing is fastest, but when sized like the Mauler, barrel sealing is faster. But really it won't end up mattering much in the end because they will both open very fast.Flying_Salt wrote:Scuttlebutt says that barrel sealers preform better, but that hasn't been proven.

Alrighty, now that it sounds like we have the valve situation figured out, there were some other questions that I had planned on asking about the cannon's construction. We really don't want to buy a $45 thread tapping set, can we just wrap a bunch of teflon tape around the fittings, pressure gaige, valves, etc. and have no leaks?. I had heard/remembered that a larger volume of chamber for a cannon would result in higher muzzle velocity, is this true?, if so, we plan on making a 10' long 4'' wide chamber (plus a 10' barrel to match, yes i know that may not be the proper C:B ratio)

Say I want to make my own piston valve. Seeing the results, I would want it to be barrelsealing. What size of pipe would fit into a 2.5 inch sch40 tee? would it be 2"? The body of the piston would need to be that size so as to fit well.
