Shattering means relatively low velocity, it's when the projectile leaves neat round holes that you should really get worried.

Shattering simply means that the glass was tempered. Certain windows require this feature. Where I live the code is any glass on a working door, any window within 24 inches of a door, or any window that goes lower than 18 inches from the ground needs to be tempered. These windows are designed to shatter into a million small pieces when pierced, rather than most windows that break into huge swords of death glass. Its a safety thing...

Yeah, I frame houses and install windows for a living...

As to this rifle, It is definately clean and nice looking. As many others have stated, your high pressures are pushing your luck a bit in my opinion. Still, I can appreciate the care you took to make it look nice and clean. Well done.

Say the Glass was untempered though, hit it with low velocity and the material will absorb the impact and crack substantially leaving a much bigger hole than the projectile. With high velocity though, the glass has no time to react and only the material immediately affected by the impact will be damaged leaving a projectile sized hole.

Could use a nice wooden stock though eh? :D

Ha! I think all guns would benefit from a wooden stock. I think I will build one for my 3 inch porting monster cannon. All I need is a redwood tree trunk. :P

HA,Told!

Nice gun,but how long do you expect the fridge compressor to live if you continually use it at 500psi?They aren't rated to those pressures.500psi in my opinion is a little to crazy, but if there's damage pictures and videos involved I won't refrain from watching :)

What I'm interested in is how well the 3/4" qev is handling the pressures, the one in the picture is rated at 150psi with a 4:1 safety factor(according to alpha's website and specs)....

Sweet peashooter though...

on an efficiency note, wouldn't it be better to have the 90 on the chamber and not the barrel??? with the plumbed trigger you wouldn't change the overall layout...

also where did you get the qev? did you have to change anything to get it to handle 600psi?

Code: Select all

Sweet peashooter though...
peashooter? are you on drugs? this is an insanly high powered cannon dude
