Mouse pads are okay, but some are pourous. I'm trying a broken bike tube, and it's working out fine.

Lowes sells rubber washers in sizes up to 2 1/4", they do have holes in the middle though for bolts. I have been really impressed with Lowes lately, they now carry street elbows and (da da da dum) even more recently they started carrying 2 foot sections of pressure rated 3" and 4" pipe. No fittings yet though....

I've used a material called Foamie, available at most craft stores.
Make sure you get the 3mm kind, it will be smoother. The larger is more porous because they pump more air into the mix.
I glued it to the piston with Goop.

I use neoprene washers from Lowe's.
Does anyone know where to buy thick sheet rubber (like 1/4" - 1/2")? I've tried two different art stores and lots of hardware stores.
