I decided to revive an old project of mine, some of you might find it interesting..
The trigger mechanics would be peerfect for a crossbow.
I made one of these a long, long time ago..
At that time I charged it with....12 rubber bands at once!!
Yes you read it right....
So sew me!!..I made a shotgun replica for my son ( 5 yrs old)
..it is not the usual lethal stuff...It took me about an hour to finish.
meet the incredible...RUBBER BAND POWERED SHOTGUN!!!

Pretty cool trigger mech. Can you go into a little more detail into how the trigger works?

Not exactly a "pneumatic" is it?
But still, would be fun for class, if people didn't freak out about stuff like that anymore.
Next you'll have to make one that shoots bike tire tubes.
Maybe we should have an "other projectile launchers" section for trebuchets and gauss/rail guns and stuff.

Well...when it comes to range this thing "blows" so I say it's a pneumatic.
There is no section for a thing like this so I decided to post it here, since all of my stuff is in here.
Actually, if you load up a bunch of rubber bands and keep them attached at the muzzle by a bracket of some sort, it would shoot marbles pretty well. And silently I might add..

- this is the basic idea...a roller and a stop.It can take huge amounts of force and still have a smooth triggerpull..
when the trigger is pulled, the block can rotate freely. No snagging or wearing on the rubber band ( or bowstring) I just added a "hammer"on the top side of the roller for looks. - triggermechinanutshell.JPG (24.05 KiB) Viewed 4368 times

- This is the plan.
Use 1/2"plywood for the center pieces ( sand the action so it is slightly thinner)
Use 1/4 inch plywood for the sides.
You can now replicate you favorite guns and shoot your friends with it!

That's really neat. I'll have to try this sometime. Seems kinda funny that earlier today I was talking with my friend about making a rubberband gun.

It took me one hour from raw material to finished product.
So it's worth the effort.
Remember: more bands means more power!!This could easily be used to propell a marble.
I've shot a marble halfway into solid wood with an earlier version
(using 40 rubber bands and two pulleys)
If you put on more bands, you can increase the power a lot without much effort. It will shoot a marble faster then some pneumatics on this site.( just cut the "barrel" at maximum stretch)
Not that I'll tell my son about that any time soon...

Pretty awesome for a rubber band gun. I made one once that allowed you to fire merely by flicking the rubber bands off with your thumb... It was pretty darn effective!! At least for rubber band fights... That was when I wasn't allowed to have airsoft. Now, I have pretty much dropped rubber band guns.

Yes it was Daniel Craig, I think BTB would like for us to get back on topic now.
BTW BTB, I finally coughed up a full metal cannon, search for 'SGP' in the quick search and it should come up.
