Well, i was messing around with a fire extinguishe, and the barel from my airsoft gun and i simply put the barrel in the exit of the fire extinguisher, pumped the extinguisher up to 300 PSI, then put a BB in the barrel, then whacked the top handle with a peice of steel pipe......

you might not think its powerful enough, but i can get off about 50-100 good powered shots (900-1000 FPS) and the noise it makes is about the same volume of a .22 rimfire...... same charetcheristics as well....

I was just wondering if anyone has experimented in a single shot hammer valve gun.

As of now, a push-button Valve from mcmaster sounds like it would work great as the actual valve. as for the hammer, a Chunk of steel that i found in my basement (about 1 lb....) and the main spring from an old spring shotgun, along with some kind of sear mechanism.

I feel like at 300 PSI and a good, efficient hammer valve i can make an extremely powerful pellet cannon that reloads by simply moving a lever back and forth.

anyway, my question is, has anyone ever tried a hammer valve?

Sounds a little overkill, I don't think the push-button valve will last long taking that sort of abuse, not to mention the massive stresses on the rest of your launcher to contail the power.

Maybe one of those long and skinny PCP airgun pumps.

I saw at sum air gun site (I found the link here) those pumps for 189$ +

But they go up to 3000psi+

i used my bike pump and two people to get up to 300 PSI......

Ill just use a hunk of Epoxy..... And no i did not say that to make you happy.. lol.

i jsut feel like i can machine epoxy. ive gone through 3 dremels trying to cut notches and things in metals.

I know that my goal is not for the valve to open 100% but to just get whacked open long enough to let a high-pressure spurt of air come out. then, the valve will close and pressures will equalize. to refire, recock the bolt.....

I want this to run off of regulated CO2. basically im making a homemade PCP...... well, kind of. its gonna shoot airsoft bb's.

That was how I made my first pneumatic. What sort of fire extinguisher was it? Most dry powder ones are rated to 200psi.

its a dry poweder one.... it takes 300 PSI though.....

i might have to post some vids. this thing can puch holes through both sides of a soup can with a steel BB......... well, both sides of about 4 cans.......

Photo's or video's would be good. Im interested to see your trigger setup i.e steel pipe, to see how you get so many shots out of it. I used a 1kg tank at 120psi and just my fingers to trigger it and i could only get 1.5 shots (yes that is one point five). But yea that is impressive.

Shud_b-Rite, my trigger setup was simply "hit top handle of fire extinguisher with pipe really hard"

it finally came down to a 8 inch peice of 1 inch PVC pipe duct taped to the top, in which i drop a roll of pennies. works like a charm.

i will have videos up eventually, i actually have school/sports, starting today, so it might be a while.
