can the barrel be the same size as the ball valve?

If I wanted a 2" barrel, can the ball valve be two inches (it is a metal ball valve) will the barrel just screw in to the valve?
sorry for all the questions. I'am new at this and I wanna build a kick @$$ cannon. Thank You in advanced.

If that's what you want, a ball valve is not a good choice of valve. You should really use at least a modded sprinkler valve in those cases.

You can use a valve of the same size as the barrel if you wish, but I suggest you don't use a ball valve as your main valve, or at the very least, spring load it.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

@pilgor uhhh yes you can why wouldn't you? you need to do some research i mean please? just a little? all you have to do is look a but you dont have to even read if all you do is look at the pretty pictures! see? its that easy!
If you dont belive me it took me 3 minutes of searching to find this its not that hard make an effort please.
im really not that much of an a$$hole usually but i think it would be appreciated if you made an effort okay?
current projects: co-axial piston valve.Status DONE!
S.P.E.C.S update mk 1 construction begining in febuary all the maths for it are done plans are drawn up and parts are listed.
NEXT project:auto piston valve.

Well if its his first he really should start out with a ball valve. Pilgor your first cannon is not gonna be your best obvouisly so work from basic up.

I just thought maybe since its his first maybe he isn't capable thats all it really depends on his budgets and knowledge i guess.

id say the ball valve is good for a first but just make it so you can upgrade it when ever your ready and i wouldnt spend the money on a 2 inch ball valve jus adapt it down to smaller one

my first one was a moded sprinkler valve and all the parts cost about $25.

for a first a ball valve is fine but like josh 121 said it would be a good idea to leave room for an upgrade.
