hello friends!
today when i was cleaning up a heap of my pvc cutoffs from a project im working on i made an interesting discovery... I found that with a little pushing and shoving, three 15mm pvc pipes can fit inside one 40mm PN9 pipe.

I rekon if i have 3x 1meter long pieces of the 15mm pipe inside about a 10inch section of the 40mm, i would have a pretty neat tri-barrel.
Of course i would also have to fill the gaps, brace the upper sections of 15mm pipe etc.
What do you guys think?

Hmm, you might have had to distort the outer pipe a little to manage that.

First thing I suggest is to see if you can still fit the end of the 40mm pipe into a fitting or if it's too out of shape with the 15mm pipes in there.

If that first test goes fine, I don't see why you couldn't manage it.

If it doesn't fit into a fitting, it would make a nice rotating barrel (fire a shot, rotate the barrel, fire another, etc). Nerf?

if one piece of ammunition was a looser fit than the other then it would exit the barrel faster than the rest thus causing all of the air to go out that barrel instead of forcing the other ammo out the respective barrels.

basically your shots would be very random as to power, unless every variable (ammo fit, size, weight) was controlled.

Thanks guys, i thought the same thing about the 40mm distorting, but im guessing if i leave 3-4 inches between where the fitting ends and the three 15mm pipes start i shouldnt have any problems... HOPEFULLY haha

Cheers Carlman, i'll make sure to test that before i go through with it, the ammo types i will mainly be using are marbles and paintballs. I might even use metal barrels (if i can find the right size) instead of the 15mm pvc to prevent their shapes from distorting

if you used marbles as ammo you should have no problem

Make sure your chamber is overkill-large.
I think this will help out when one barrel opens up earlier then the others.

A large C:B ratio would indeed help push out anything with less discrimination. Interesting discovery! I don't see why you couldn't plug up the gaps with a combination of epoxy and expandable foam.

Here's my gun with 9 barrels. Like Blitz said, I filled the gaps with Great Stuff which is a foam sealant. It is very consistent (all shots go about the same speed) but I'm also using paintballs so they have about the same friction.

Also known as a dreiling, one of my favorite weapon types; except I prefer two shot gun barrels on top and a rifle barrel on the bottom.

With this set up though, you’re going to lose a lot of performance and consistency, unless you do every thing in triplicate; i.e. three guns in one.

Triple-barreled co-axial anyone?

You could also make a chamber like that..Im thinking it would be able to hold more psi????Because of the extra layers of pipe.
