S.P.A.M stands for Self-standing Produce Accelerating Mortar.
This was my first cannon, I made it from scrap I had lying around so it has an odd shape...
I had several goals in this project:
-Make a cannon (I really wanted to have one!)
-Make it fast (I wanted to shoot!)
-Make it simple (derived from previous goal)
-Make it powerful -Make it Portable
I met all my goals except the last one, Since i used a very long barrel i needed a bigger chamber (I didnt think of chopping the barrel) so I used the biggest pieces of pipe I had lying around, 4".
The cannon is really heavy, i'd estimate about 15-20 KG so I had to build it in a way that would allow me to use it easily, and since my goal was to shoot far rather than shoot AT things, I glued it in a 45 degrees position. In retrospect I should have made it as flat as I could... shooting AT stuff is more fun...
Overall this is your basic vall valve pneumatic, with a small twist in the form of a weird layout...
However, If youre going to build a heavy cannon, I recommend either this design, or Joel's Mega Launcher.
My friend Broke this gun by breaking off the quick connect adaptor, took me 2 monthes to find the pieces to fix it... the gun is now in working order and is currently used to launch water when it's really frickin' hot...
