alright, after finding out a spent 20 gauge shell make a perfect "shell" for 1/2" pipe (because of the flange at the end) I decided to make a break-action shotgun. Have never made one.

It looks simple enough to build, but i dont know about the seal in between the barrel and the other bit (where it breaks open)

Should I use sprinkler valve or other? suggest other

please give tips - pretty sure I could figure out the seal myself, but it would probly take awhile- couldn't find it on the search

see preliminary sketch for basic design (nuthin fancy)

Wouldn't you be needing a pressure chamber for any real kind of power? It's probably best to just make a gasket and a locking mechanism to hold it shut. It'd be a fair bit simpler if it was built as a combustion.

Have you seen how the "buzzy Bee" doubleshot works? (tis a nerf gun)

I reccomend you spend the 10 bucks it costs and get one. sure is not that great of a gun (mine is actually pretty good, dunno why people have so much trouble) but its a double-barrel shell ejecting shotgun. Check out that mechanism and you shall see how easy it is to make this.

Good luck, BTW. Cant wait to see it working.

I think this is a great idea!
You could easily make it just as you have drawn and conceptualized, patterning your action and off of a normal break-barrel 20 ga.
I will have to go see for myself how well the spent shell fits inside the 0.5" PVC before I go making one (I am fairly anal and it has to fit very nicely.)

I just got my kids, oldest are 9 and 8, two 20 ga. shotguns for christmas, along with 500 shells. I imagine this spring we will have plenty of ammo for a 20 ga. spudgun.
btw, you can snugly fit 20 ga. 192 shells into a 30 cal ammo can, or over 3300 .22 shells.

Look for Goathunter's launchers. I believe he has posted two of them here, and both of them are break barrel type launchers.

this has been done many times before like here http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/14-gaug ... 15521.html
but you could make the most awsome break action shot gun ever
good luck

Yo thanks - found goathunter's gun may use an o-ring

I will have a pressure chamber, just left it off the drawing for clarity

The 20 Gauge shells fit very well, but I have had 1/2 pipe that have slightly different IDs and you might need one wrap of tape or something.
