they work the same as a normal one but without the tank.

yes you could do that, take the motor out, weld a bracket to the compressor, then stick your handle in.

I just found an old one in my old man's shed! I just tested it and it doesn't work (the motor just probably blew) but, it will work perfectly for what I wanna do with it!
It should be a hell of easier to get going then making a high pressure stirrip pump from scratch.

yer, use what you already have without blowing your money
it will take you ages to pump guns up tho, cos the compressor piston chamber would be about the size of a dice

Interesting concept
It's a tiny piston that needs to rev high so I would suggest a massive handle attached to a small gear, so every turn of the handle gives you more piston strokes than a turn of the motor would have.
