I've been seriously interested in these little beauties for a long time. I'm not overly sure how they work in comparrison to a regular compressor, but is there any way I can add a crank handle to one?

they work the same as a normal one but without the tank.
you would have to be putting on a really small crank handle
how big is this one you have?

Well having a rather large crank handle on it, would give me alot of leverage making it easy to get to high pressures :D

i think i know what you mean now
yes you could do that, take the motor out, weld a bracket to the compressor, then stick your handle in.
should work

I just found an old one in my old man's shed! I just tested it and it doesn't work (the motor just probably blew) but, it will work perfectly for what I wanna do with it! :D

It should be a hell of easier to get going then making a high pressure stirrip pump from scratch.

yer, use what you already have without blowing your money
it will take you ages to pump guns up tho, cos the compressor piston chamber would be about the size of a dice

That works fine for me, I mainly use 6/8mm bore piston guns. I have an ultra quick pilot so my guns are efficient enough to have really small chamber volumes. Now to make this little beauty :D

Thanks alot for ya help Cosmic :D

Wow I'm stoked at how well this working....I've just welded on the handle and it rules! It works! except I think I'm going to add a gear to make it easier to turn at 300+ psi

Interesting concept :)

It's a tiny piston that needs to rev high so I would suggest a massive handle attached to a small gear, so every turn of the handle gives you more piston strokes than a turn of the motor would have.

Yeah that's it. This little pump is perfectly suited to my 6mm. I wonder how much pressure I could get out of it...

Tomorrow me thinks I'll have to do some serious testing with this little pot of gold :D
