Is it necessary to epoxy the solenoid hole after you've done the air gun mod to a sprinkler valve? I just completed this today and simply screwed the solenoid back into place hoping that would seal it, but is this not the case?

you can leave the solenoid in but its bulky the seal isn't as good, I'd strongly recommend epoxy.

Alternatively you can pour some some pvc cement into the solenoids hole let it dry for an hour then top it off and let it dry over night. It's not as permanent as epoxy but it seals it off pretty well.

i just used hot glue, surprisingly it works very good

Of course you can leave the solenoid in. If you want to lessen the valve's profile, though, you should remove it and seal the hole with some sort of implement.

Ok, when I connected my CO2 bottle to my cannon the sprinkler valve wouldn't seal? and the gas was rushing out and actually pushing the ball out of the end of the barrel?
Could this just be an improperly seated diaphragm?

How much flow does your CO₂ connection have?

I hate to ask, but is it regulated?

Also, did you check for chips of plastic in the valve body?

Yes, we have a palmer pursuit stabilizer mounted to the end of the CO2 bottle and according to the guage it's putting out around 100-110...

You could always leave it in and have dual triggering capability, pneumatic and electrical...never know, there could be an application for such a beast.

Alright, I got it figured out... apparently I didnt have the solenoid screwed in tight enough AND we had a hose barb connected to about a 3ft hose then to the airgun... After tightening the solenoid and then shortening the hose to about 6" the gun fires real nice.
But of course after getting about 5 actual shot, our CO2 was empty b/c of all the testing we've done. Haha figures.
