My friend made a cannon for his senior project, as his "product". I have a few suggestions:
What's the actual topic of your project? For ours, we had to have a research topic, and also write a corresponding paper. You have to tie the product in with the paper.
So, how will you tie the cannon in with the project? It might be better to build a simple cannon if your topic is on how they function.

Mark, my topic is pneumatic engineering this is how i will tie my product into my project. It will be farily complex i will have to put a toal of 20 hours into the entire project.

I say a nice machined high pressure hybrid.

I would like to keep it completely pneumatic.

Hybrids would be much more fun and you'd get a much bigger 'ooooo' 'ahhhhhh' effect.

Make an aluminum barrel sealing piston valve on with 2.5" porting and a 3" chamber.
Build a mount for it with complex aiming capabilities. You could even try to work out a pneumatic system to work the aiming.

Mate this whole site is full of idea's. Dont ask for people to spoon feed you, just spend 15 minutes looking around you will find thousands.
But if there are specific parameters in the assignment post them and someone will definitely be able to help

That is a barrel sealing piston valve. Perhaps you need to do some more research..

My idea: IT might be against the rules, but someone could probably build one for you for less than $1000 to the specs mentioned.
If you're serious, there are qualified spudders here who might have the time(?)
Other than that, you stated the project is for next year???
That gives you around a year to search SF's???
Maybe during that time you could make this post more interesting by adding component pics and stuff and get more advice(?)
BTW, A stupid expression comes to mind but it fits, it goes "Homey doun play Dat!!!"
...Thankyou in advance.
You're welcome.
Oh, I suggest also, this sounds bad, but it's....,
If you get a girlfriend before or during this project, you could look for a muslim one so she won't get so mad if you blow yourself up!!!
8)
EDIT: She might even like you more, like a martyr or something!!!

wow thunderlord.... that is way inappropriate.
A 1000 dollars will get you a very nice aluminium pneumatic, just make sure you don't blow it without researching.
