Does anyone know of any high-pressure fill valves? I have previously been using regular shraeder valves, but I am beginning an Aluminium cannn and decided I would need a higher pressure fill valve. I have head of quick connect fittings, but I do not know what psi, what fittings, where to buy etc...

one thing I have been considering is using the same shreader valve that JSR used in his penguns, however, I do not know how he made the able to hold so much pressure. did he mod it, or use some specialised type of valve?

btw, a little of topic, but can someone please tell me how to get an avatar?

Shcrader can hold ALOT of pressure but if you're worried buy a pneumatic check valve with a quick connect.

What pressures are you talking mate? Both schrader's and quick connects can probably take any punishment you can dish out

Im talking about 200 - 300 psi. As I said, the guns going to be made out of aluminium and welded together, so it can take those pressures.

also, what do you mean by schreaders taking a lot of pressure. mine are brand new and they start leaking at abou 95 - 100 psi.

JSR uses ordinary shcrader valves from car and bicycle tyres and has taken them to 850 psi regularly with no failure

Also, JSR cannot believe that in spite of his massive hangover and very few recollections of the previous night, he's still on spudfiles

well, if JSR says so, he must be right. I will use a regular screader valve.

perhaps my problems we with the seal between the hole i made and the rubber sleeving, as I am completely useless with epoxy and often i must apply it with an old nail, for lack of alternatives...

I prefer to strip off the rubber - and old nail? I use flat tipped screwdrivers

most quick connect fittings I've seen are rated to 10 bar... they are good up to about 200 psi.. at higher pressures it almost impossible to disconnect them unless you vent the circuit... at pressures higher then 300 psi they can violently disconnect...
of courseit doesn't happen often but if you take into consideration the fact that most advanced guns are piston valve gun that fire when fill/pilot side is vented then you'll realise how dangerous it is

I know there are specialised QC fittings rated to higher pressures (50 bar or so) that can be safely disconnected when pressurised but I haven't bought them yet

You could get quick connects for paintball. They are only 1/8", but are rated IIRC to over 1000 psi.

Check Ebay, as palmer is rather expensive.

That's the brass version. The stainless version is good to 2000 psi.

Well, for this launcher, as I'm only going to go up to 300 psi or so, I think a regular schreader will be better (as I can easily fill it up with my shocky or inflator)

they sell 1/8 inch QDC's on mcmaster with built-in check valves. They are used on the 4000 PSI paintball tanks, and are best suited to high pressures (im currently converting my HP guns to them)
