will this slide valve:

fit into a standing 1/2" fitting? The difference is so small that it just might work...

thanks in advance!

it's equivalent to 1/4" BSPP thread.

American fittings are npt, correct? is bspp at all compatible with npt fittings, or would i have to buy some crazy ass fitting to bridge the two?

ya america typically uses NPT. BSPP and NPT are NOT COMPATIBLE. you will have to get an adapter- www.mcmaster.com sells them.

Well they thread together, you might need to use a bit more teflon tape than usual to get them to seal. At high pressures, epoxy or thread seal may be required for a seal.

yes... however the threads on that slide valve are BSPP, so they are parallel threads, whereas NPT are tapered. personally I'd recommend just getting the adapter, as i hate jury-rigging threaded fittings. just my 2 cents.
