				Need help with trigger!!!!

I have a tennis ball cannon with a 1 1/2" sprinkler valve with a compressor filling the air chamber constantly. I'm using a air trigger to activate the sprinkler valve. Question: is there a way to make the air flow stop after the trigger is pulled. I want a single shot so the compressor can re fill the air chamber even if someone holds the trigger down. I think in real guns this would be called double action?

Simple answer: you want a 3-way valve. Also referred to as a 2-position 3-way directional air control valve.
Fills chamber when not pressed, vents pilot and cuts off air supply when pressed.
JSR will give you his pre-written long-winded shpeel on how they work

				Carnee,
I'm new to this myself, so I sure as heck don't know all the answers. However, there seems to be a very simple fix.
How about just not holding the trigger after the shot is fired?
BTW, what you've described has nothing at all to do with how a double action "real" gun works.
You may want to add a ball valve between your blow gun air trigger and the sprinkler valve, to act as a safety. That way, as long as the safety is closed, the trigger could be pressed without firing the air cannon.
For this to work, you'd have to make it a habit to always close the ball valve after each shot.

I think what he means about the real gun thing is that if you hold the trigger on a semi auto gun nothing will happen... which is exactly what a three way valve would accomplish.

In real guns, what you're describing is semi-automatic action. Has nothing to do with whether it's a single action (Manually cocking the hammer yourself, then pulling the trigger to drop it) or double action (pulling the trigger cocks the hammer for you, and also drops it).
So yeah, you're correct Gun Freak; just thought I'd offer an explanation of the whole double-action thing for Carnee.
