a semi auto is just anormal gun but the valve closes before all the air escapes so you can have another shot,depending on the size of your chamber and the pressure you charge your gun to, you will get more shots.

Look through the Pneumatic Cannon Showcase and find the topic "Semi-Auto" by clide. It has a diagram and animation of a simple, easy, bolt-action paintball gun.
