Chamber not holding air

Well i got my gun all painted today, and put it all together. then decided to fill it up with air before putting any ammo in it to make sure everything works properly. Well i put the air hose to the tire valve and the air would blow though the chamber and out the barrel. the seals for the valve are clean and in good shape. im pretty sure there is no air getting to the back side of piston to stop the air from getting out.

im using this valve http://www.rainbird.com/parts/images/th ... pg?id=2398

anybody ever had this happen? and for the record, i searched for 30 minutes trying to find a thread about somebody having this problem and couldnt find one, so dont flame me for asking for help.

You said you painted it 1st, when you solvent weld PVC it's saposed to be clean and dry. You didn't push painted ends up into the fittings did you? You should also let it cure for 24 hours before testing.

benstern, yes, the valve is installed int he right direction

jrrdw, i glued everything yesterday around noon. when i say "put together" i mean screw the barrel and chamber onto the valve, and also assemble the blowgun contraption. sorry about that :)

I've never seen anyone use that kind of valve before??? Much less a modded one. Try lubracating the diaphram.

off topic -- Is that you in your avatar?

I've never seen a valve like that. It looks good for a little over/under cannon.

i have a valve like that, it's a 3/4 inch, and it really reduces the number of fittings required. just one question, CLAYBOB, how did you mod it? it doesnt have a diaphragm like normal sprinklers. how did you do it?

well thats my problem... ha ha, i jbwelded over the diaphragm on accident. im probably going to take off the main electronic solenoid, then put the blowgun on that end, that should work, shouldnt it?
